Happy Friday everyone! I had planned on sharing our Hawaii guide today but it’s not quite ready yet and I want to make sure it’s perfect before hitting publish. There’s just a lot to include and I really don’t want to forget anything! I’m planning on working on it over the weekend though so hopefully I’ll be able to post early next week. Until then, let’s talk clothes, shall we? It’s been raining a lot lately and while I have nothing against jeans, I thought I’d share a cute dress outfit for a rainy day!

layering for a rainy day in California - M Loves M @marmar

We have been dealing with lots of rain in SoCal but you know I totally love it. Rain is my favorite and even now, hearing it fall outstide while I’m writing this post, gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling. Rain is my favorite kind of weather so I thought it would be fun to share how I like to layer for a rainy day with a dress outfit. A go-to outfit is usually jeans and a striped shirt with a trench coat, but I loved the idea of updating the denim jeans for a denin dress. In SoCal it’s never too cold, it’s always bearable, so I thought a denim dress could still work, especially with a shirt paired underneath. If it’s raining hard you’ll just need to get an umbrella and move quickly!

I got this denim dress knowing that it would be such a cute one from spring. I couldn’t wait to wear it though so I thought, in the meantime, it would go well with a shirt layered underneath. The extra layer kept me warmer, and I loved how the striped sleeves peeked through the arms on the trench coat.  The denim, stripes, and trench combo feel so classic, so I decided to add in red, which is usually my go-to pop of color. A red bag and a red lip ties it all together in my opinion!

You could also wear this outfit for a brisk spring day when it’s not raining. I’m also thinking you could make this work for the office, depending on your dress code. Hopefully this inspires you to do some layering for your next rainy day, and maybe try a dress if the weather allows it!

I hope you all have the best weekend! We’re shooting some fun projects over the weekend that I can’t wait to share. I’ll try to share some sneak peeks if I can!
