Happy New Years everyone! I hope you had a great New Years Eve. Matthew and I celebrated the end of 2013 with an Umami burger date {using a gift card I gave him 2 years ago!}, and then rang in the new year with friends in Redondo Beach. There’s something undeniably exciting about the beginning of a new year. I wanted to wear an outfit that felt fresh and new, even if I was wearing pieces I’ve had for awhile. Yellow is a color that always makes me smile. Sometimes a new year can make me a little emotional and nostalgic. While I’m excited about a new beginning, it can be a little sad to think of another one passing. Smiling was necessary just in case.

This yellow bow skirt from Leanne Barlow makes me happy! I love that the bow is actually on a detachable belt. It makes the skirt even more versatile. Midi skirts are such a classic and feminine style. I think my closet needs a few more of them!
