working on my fitness

January 15, 2014

At the beginning of the year I always feel a renewed motivation for fitness. I mentioned it being one of my 2014 resolutions, and I’m just hoping it can carry it through further than the first month of the year. I grew up playing a lot of sports {soccer especially}, and it’s only been in the past couple of years that I’ve had more of a difficult time fitting my workouts in. Last year I worked out maybe every other weekend, and then it kind of tapered off towards the end of the year. This year I’m hoping it will become more of a lifestyle though. Matthew and I have been really good about planning and preparing healthier meals, and we’ve even been doing morning workouts. It helps to have someone to work out with that will help keep you motivated. I got these new Nike kicks for Christmas and Old Navy is currently having a 40% off Active sale, so I couldn’t resist picking up this hoodie and these pants!

Matthew’s encouraged me with my workouts by saying, “If you want it badly enough, you’ll make it a priority.” It’s so true. I’ve reached a point where I desperately want to be as strong and in shape as I was, so I’m making it a goal. While I’m not trying to lose weight I do want to tone my muscles, build up my endurance and increase my strength and flexibility. I won’t deny that some mornings it’s impossible to wake up early, but others I just have to. Getting out of bed is the hardest part, but once I am it’s a lot easier!
