Treat Yourself During The Holidays

December 3, 2015

Treat Yourself During the Holidays by M Loves M The holidays are an incredibly busy time and while we can be so focused on our ever-growing To Do list, it’s important to make time for yourself. It’s not always easy, or possible, but if you can schedule some time to relax, you’ll be in a much better state of mind! Treating yourself might mean spending the night in with your favorite movie, or it might be heading out to get hot chocolate with your best friend.  Here are some of my favorite ways to treat yourself during the holidays, on a night in and a night out.

For nights in, I love to curl up on the couch with a book or magazine. It’s always important to turn your phone on silent, or even do not disturb, so you can really relax and not get distracted. I have a huge collection of coffee table books so it’s so fun to flip through them, look at the photos and read the stories. A recent favorite is Rachel Zoe’s Living in Style book. It’s such a great resource for fashion and she features some of my favorite female icons.

Matthew makes fun of me for my ever-growing collection of candles but I just love them. If you’re in my house, when in doubt, a candle is burning! I love how this one from DL&Co smells of chic mimosa, purple freesia, tuberose and soft sandalwood. It’s a feminine fragrance that I absolutely love to burn year round!

Another thing I love to do on nights in is treat myself to a face masque. I’ve been really liking the One Love Organics Brand New Day Microderma Scrub + Masque. It has a superfine consistency that’s water-activator and it can be used not only as a scrub and exfoliator, but also as a hydrating masque that you leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. My skin always feels baby soft after I use it!

On the nights where I leave the house I treat myself to a glass of wine while I’m getting ready. I’ll put on my favorite candle and listen to some of my favorite music. Lately, I’ve been all about the new Carrie Underwood CD. She’s my fave!

For my beauty look in this post I used the Too Faced Sugar Pop palette on my eyes. I love the bronzey Malted Milk Ball shade. It really pops! Some of my favorite nail polishes are from Deborah Lippman and I love these cute mini sizes. They’re perfect to throw into your bag for touch-ups! The Modern Love is a gorgeous nude/pink and Some Enchanted Evening looks so pretty on an accent nail for just a little pop of glitter.

Before I head out the door I always make sure to spray on some perfume. I love perfume and I feel like it’s the perfect invisible accessory! I have so many different types of perfumes, ranging from florals to citrus to woodsy scents. Depending on my mood or outfit I’ll pick one that calls out to me. One of my favorites that I always wear on girl dates is Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy! I originally got this bottle when I was in college after constantly borrowing it from my roommate Mal. I couldn’t help but spray it on because I loved the smell of berries, vanilla and jasmine. I ended up having to get my own because I started using hers more than she did! I love how sweet and feminine the perfume is, though. I even have the rollerball for refreshing on the go!

Do you take time to treat yourself during the holidays? I’d highly recommend it! The holiday season comes and goes so quickly so it’s important to not stress and try to relax when you can. By taking time for yourself you can be more present in the moment!
