This past weekend I was in Dallas with Mary Kay and some other bloggers for the 50th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. I have been looking forward to this weekend for months and it totally lived up to the expectations. We toured the famous Mary Kay headquarters, discussed beauty in the PinkTank {it actually had a bunch of green furniture!}, and even got to sit at Mary Kay’s desk and admire the gold peacock. We ate at some amazing food spots {Sissy’s Southern Kitchen and Grange Hall}, and of course attend the ACMs. Mary Kay was the official beauty sponsor so we had a special VIP area to watch the red carpet. As a country-music lover I was kind of in heaven! I loved seeing Miranda Lambert and Lady Antebellum perform during the show and Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton were such fun hosts! Here are some photos from the weekend:

One thing that I loved about the weekend was learning more about Mary Kay. I have friends who use the products religiously so it was great to learn more about the brand. They have a motto, discover what you love, and charitable involvement is really important to them. They teamed up with the non-profit loveisrespect to empower people to prevent and end abusive relationships. I’ve had friends endure abusive relationships and feel shame and embarrassment about their situation, so I think it’s so incredibly important to realize that you are not alone and no one deserves to be treated with anything less than complete respect. Please make sure you’re being treated appropriately and if you find yourself in an unhealthy and abusive relationship, I encourage you to reach out for help. You can receive free and confidential support by calling 1-866-331-9474 or texting loveis to 22522.
Some funny things that happened this weekend: We went to the Party for a Cause Concert but it was delayed because of the rain and then there was a tornado warning. The city of Arlington sounded alarms and we had to “take cover.” A group of us ended up in the women’s restroom, waiting until the storm passed. There was amazing people watching though! Another funny thing was that during the awards show we went to get food at the concession stand but they locked us out until the next commercial break. We had to sit on the floor to eat our food, which looked so funny to people walking by since we were in our pretty dresses. Luckily the floor was very clean!
A big thank you to Mary Kay for having me in Dallas this past weekend! I had such a fun time and it will be an experience I remember forever!
