These were the last photos I took while pregnant and looking at them now is making me kind of sad! As ready as I was not to be pregnant anymore, it is a little jarring to think how quickly our lives changed. Luckily, they changed for the better! Our family is so in love with Corinna {especially my sweet Augustine!}. As someone who had to take a lot of photos while pregnant, I thought I would share some of my best tips for having a successful maternity photo shoot!

My Best Maternity Photo Shoot Tips

Choose the Right Photographer

Let’s face it, taking photos while nine months pregnant is never going to be fun. The announcement photos are a blast {these are Corinna’s announcement photos & Augustine’s}! But I find for taking photos later in pregnancy, that it’s really important you work with a photographer who you feel comfortable with. Meeting with them before booking is a great idea and choosing someone who specializes in maternity photo shoots can help too!

Location, Location, Location

I don’t love taking photos in crowded locations. I usually try to do any photo shoots I need for the blog early in the morning. The light is better and there are less crowds. Choosing a location that isn’t too crowded or one that you frequent a lot {like your favorite beach or park} can help you feel less self-conscious and more at ease.

Splurge!

What makes you feel your best? Having great hair, makeup, nails? All of the above?? Don’t be afraid to splurge on something that will make you feel comfortable and shine in these photos. When looking at the photos decades from now, you’ll be glad you got that blowout and/or manicure!

Find an Outfit You Love

It’s pretty impossible to feel like yourself towards the end of your pregnancy, especially since your body looks so different. I find that making sure I have an outfit that I feel really comfortable in and find flattering {like in this dress that I told you about} helps a lot. Try on a few options and do a little practice photo shoot at home with your phone to get some test shots. Then you can see if you like how your outfit photographs. But trust me, you’ll look even better with the help of a professional photographer!
