Before I gave birth to Augustine, I wrote him a letter to read when he is older. I wanted to continue this tradition by writing a letter to my baby girl. We kept Augustine’s gender a surprise, so it was a totally different experience writing one for my little girl!
A Letter to My Baby Girl
Dear Baby Girl,
For as fast as this pregnancy has gone by, and as worried as I was that I wasn’t savoring it enough, I feel like these past few months have been the longest. I feel you move constantly in my belly and it’s a reminder that you’re here but not here quite yet. Oh how I can’t wait for you to really be here. We all can’t wait for you to be here!
A prayer I’ve had for as long as I can remember was to be a mother. It’s an incredible blessing, and a huge responsibility, but one I’ve always yearned for. Being Augustine’s mama and now yours just makes me feel so incredibly lucky and blessed. God is so good and I am forever grateful that he’s bestowed me with these two incredible gifts.
I will always remember that moment we found out you were a girl. One of my first thoughts was that I was going to give birth to my best friend. I already know we will share so many wonderful memories and adventures together. It still feels so surreal to think I’m having a baby girl and while I will love and honor you for whatever your passions are in life, I can’t help but be excited that you’re a girl. I’ve always dreamed of having a girl to cook with, play dress up with, go to tea parties with, to share my favorite stories. While I know your older brother will appreciate some of those things, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to do them with you as well.
Little girl, I hope you know how much you are loved already. You have a big brother who adores you, always wants to “see” you and hug my belly. He sings the sweetest little songs to you that he doesn’t sing to anyone else and he calls you his baby. You also have an incredibly loving father who will protect you at all costs. I know you’re going to be his special little girl and I can’t wait to see you two together. You’re going to love him just like Augustine and I do.
Life is going to be a little crazy for awhile as we settle into our new routine but we can’t wait for you to come and be a part of our family! Even without seeing your face, or holding you, you’ve already made us feel a lot more complete.
We’re ready and waiting for you little one! Please come safely!
Love Always and Forever,
I can’t wait to share our little girl’s arrival with you! Follow along on Instagram if you don’t want to miss our birth announcement!
