As the seasons change, so do our wardrobes! Colder weather means time for outerwear and layers galore! While many of us stress over prepping outfits for holiday gatherings and parties, the everyday look is often a matter of throwing together the warmest, comfiest looking clothes. While I am all for the busy gal’s, easy, everyday look, I have found there are a few tricks to making your outfits sing seasonal spirit all season long. Hint: it involves layering with color!

Pairing staple pieces with bright and bold pops of color is the perfect way to add some layering and style to your everyday fall/winter looks! Whether I am spending the day running errands or cozying up with Matthew for a Sunday of TV, I have found that adding color to my everyday look elevates my spirit on even those cold and gloomy days.

I found this versatile, wool camel coat from Old Navy and loved how it looked paired with a bright red sweater. Red and camel is such a good color combo. The sweater has a bit of an orange undertone so it’s especially perfect for fall! I then added a pair of medium-wash jeans, classic loafers, and a comfy plaid scarf. Don’t forget the matching red lip (a key to mixing in the pop of color)! This is an outfit I could easily style and feel confident in for a busy, task-filled day. I find it beneficial to sometimes stick with more neutral, staple pieces, and then let your layers add the pop of color. That way, when you move indoors, you still have your pop of color, even without the heavy outerwear.

Have a great weekend everyone! I’m back on my cleaning kick and finally talking to someone about getting our closet fixed {the bar broke on move-in day!}. Excited to cross that off my To Do list…a year and a half later!
