It’s always a little sad over here, once the holidays are over. We’re left with January days that are chilly and gray, and missing that holiday sparkle. To keep me going, I look forward to spring! Since we’re not quite in spring weather yet, though, I’ve been stocking up on new items that will work well in these colder months, but also transition well once the weather warms up. I had a hay day at my favorite store the other day because they’ve had such good sales going on. And if there’s one thing I can’t pass up, it’s a good sale!
Layering is key in January, even in Southern California. My favorite way to layer is with a thick, cozy cardigan, and a fluffy scarf. Bonus points if the scarf is printed! I love print mixing and thought the leopard print of the scarf looked so good with the stripes on the dress. I picked up this striped swing dress from Old Navy because if there’s one thing my closet can never have enough of, it’s stripes! I love the soft jersey material and flattering silhouette. The black and white looks so good with the marigold mustard color of the cardigan, too. It’s one of my must-have layering combos! The bright and happy hue definitely perks up the outfit, don’t you think?
To finish off the look, ankle boots were key, along with this super affordable and cute crossbody bag! I love how easy the bag is to just throw on and go. Plus, hands free is key right now when I’m also lugging around baby gear.

Hope you all are having a great week and enjoying this chilly January weather! We’ve had more rain this month than we did all last year and it’s been amazing. The grass in our backyard is growing back and the streets have never looked more clean!
