Temperatures in the 90s all week make me want to be poolside or beachside! {Or really any place with good AC} Instead of dressing up for work today I wish I could just put on a cute one-piece halter bathing suit, throw a cute beach towel over my shoulder, and walk out the door in some slip-on sandals. What do you wish you were wearing today?

Homeschooling wasn’t something I always knew I wanted to do but shortly after Augustine was born I started learning more about it and couldn’t imagine not doing it. What first was sparked as a way to spend more time together became so much more. Here are my favorite things about homeschooling:* The flexibility - being able to go at their pace, taking time on more challenging concepts or moving forward for their unique learning level. We’ve been using @thegoodandthebeautiful for the past 4 years and we’ve loved it so much. The program has made math in particular so fun which is totally why Augustine has gotten over a year ahead- he’s always asking to do a lesson! * Being the primary influence in my children’s lives. * The freedom to school when and where we like. We can take trips and still keep up with our schooling, or take time off for sickness without getting behind. * No pressure to rush a topic. We can take our time learning about what they like, or tailor it to their interests. With preschool we did a lot of counting with toy cars and using construction trucks in our themes and reading. * Knowing exactly what they’re learning and choosing what they learn and when. Being able to focus on “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8 * That they’re “socialized” not just by their same age friends, but kids of all ages, and also learning from our adult neighbors, the local farmer, our piano teacher, and contractors who come to help us out. We got a whole lesson about sprinkler blowouts in the fall! The world can truly be our classroom. * Being able to watch them learn, and also learning alongside them! I’ve learned the coolest mental math strategies with @thegoodandthebeautiful * Spending so much much together as a family and creating memories together. Of course homeschooling has its challenges but the benefits far outweigh them. Every family should do what works for them, but for us we’ve been so happy to homeschool. #homeschoolcurriculum #tgtb2024 #tgtb #thegoodandthebeautiful #homeschoolingmom
