For my birthday I thought it would be fun to try a new cafe for lunch. Matthew and I tend to be creatures of habit and end up visiting the same restaurants a little too frequently {the hosts know us by name at our local sushi spot!}. It’s just that when you find a good place you’re worried that others won’t measure up. But you never know unless you try someplace new, right? I’ve heard a lot of good and yummy things about The Sycamore Kitchen on La Brea so Sunday Matthew and I went on a luncheon outing! First of all, the spot is adorable. I love the outdoor seating {Ginger friendly!}, and the inside is super cute too with brick walls, wood tables and a pastry case that makes you want to grab absolutely everything. Here are some photos from our lunch:

Here’s what we ordered:
The Sycamore Caesar– romaine hearts, marinated fennel, Parmesan crisps, zesty Parmesan vinaigrette topped with fried capers. YUM!
Caprese Sandwich– fresh mozzarella, tomato, olive, basil, braised fennel on country bread with a spicy pickle
Ginger Limeade
Mini Chocolate Peanut Butter Stump Cake
The salad was delicious. Lots of salty yumminess going on with the Parmesan and capers. I always love a Caesar, and this was one totally hit the spot, although I’m not sure how much the braised fennel added to it, besides some texture. That could just be me though. The mini Chocolate Peanut Butter Stump Cake was soo good! It’s my favorite combo and it was my birthday so I was all about any excuse for some dessert. I think there might have been some Stumptown coffee in it too because I noticed that’s the kind they serve. The Ginger Limeade was a nice refreshing balance to lunch. We slurped it right down! Overall, I was really happy with our lunch at The Sycamore Kitchen and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their food, especially more of the desserts and pastries!
