I still remember my first time at Fashion Week. I felt nervous and scared and not really worthy of attending. I felt like I was just this girl who had a blog and why would I be invited? Working as a buyer, that made more sense, but this felt totally unrelated. Attending my first show felt surreal. The lights were dark and then all of a sudden they turned on and were blazing bright. The music was fast and loud, and all attention was turned towards the runway entrance. Then, you see a tall, lanky girl walk out in a stunning outfit, with hair and makeup perfectly done. You see her whisk past you and you’re jut in awe. It’s enough to make anyone fall in love with fashion and beauty.
This season I’ve felt that same way, but also in a completely new way by being invited backstage. Backstage is where all the magic really happens. It’s a little hectic with the stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, nail artists, coordinators, media, press, etc, all fitting into one space but it is so cool! Mary Kay invited me backstage at Tracy Reese on Sunday and I was so excited to see the process of getting the models runway ready. Since so often you see photos of the finished looks, I thought it would be fun for you to see what happens behind the scenes and also give you some details about the makeup look they created, especially considering how wearable it is.

The beauty looks at Tracy Reese were fresh and natural, which I loved. They were inspired by light and transparency. Tracy wanted to incorporate shine and sparkle through the use of sequins and beautiful rhinestones but in a soft, organic way that wasn’t too soft and precious. I feel like my regular beauty looks tend to be pretty fresh and modern so I was excited to see how she translated that on the runway.

The eyes had a very defined lash with the Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in black and bronzed eyes with Mineral Eye Color in Amber Blaze (fair skin) or Rosegold (dark skin). The color was applied with a fluffy brush to make it a little softer. They used the Mary Kay At Play Bold Fluid Eyeliner in Gold Metal and blended downward and across the lash line for a little hint of sparkle.

To create the soft, rosy cheeks the makeup artists used the Mary Kay At Play Lip and Cheek Stick in Peach Pop (fair skin) or Razzleberry (dark skin). I love how the cheeks have that “caught in the wind” look.

I love a dewy lip look and found out the makeup artists used the Mary Kay True Dimensions Lipstick in Sizzling Red on the models. To create the stained, “bitten” look you dab the color on the top lash† line and blend with your fingers to create a stain. Then, add a lip gloss on top to the center of the lip. Such a good trick!
One of my favorite Mary Kay products is the Satin Lips Mask, so I loved hearing that they used it on the models. It makes sense though! I apply it for 1-2 minutes and after removing it by lips are so smooth. It’s the best lipstick prep!

My favorite element was the rhinestone “freckles” for added sparkle. So fun right?! Definitely going to be doing that next spring for outdoor parties!

While this was for Spring 2016, I for one will definitely be incorporating these looks this fall, especially the stained lips and rosy cheeks! What do you think about the beauty looks? I hope you’re inspired to try it on your own.
