One of the things I love about what I do is that no day is quite like the other. My schedule is always changing, from meetings with clients, shoots with photographers, consulting with brands, editing photos, recipe testing, and tackling a crazy inbox. There are some days where I’m gone from 8am to 10pm. I’m so excited to be partnering with Nexxus New York Salon Care in today’s post to share my favorite styling tricks for living a day on the go!
My typical hair routine involves showering in the evenings. I try to give my hair a good two or three hours to air dry before hitting the sack. I’ve been using the Nexxus Therappe Shampoo which I love for its strengthening qualities. I tend to use a lot of heat and product on my hair so I love a shampoo that will help strengthen my hair and also provide extra moisture. By letting my hair air dry, I can limit a little bit of the heat exposure and just style it in the mornings.
When I wake up, I curl my hair with a 1.5-inch curling icon. I feel most myself with hair in soft waves. It’s an easy style to achieve and usually doesn’t take me more than 20 minutes to curl my whole head. While I love curls, my hair doesn’t often hold them on their own. The curls can fall flat in a few hours given the weather, or the quick pace I’m keeping. Matthew teases me because I’m such a fast walker, which is not conducive to keeping my hair intact. So, to set the style, I spray my hair with the Nexxus Maxximum Finishing Mist. I like that I can be gone all day and my hair will still keep those curls I set in the morning. It also protects against humidity which was really handy when I was in Miami the other month. I don’t know whose friend Humidity is, but it’s not mine!

I picked up this cute off-the-shoulder top from Who What Wear’s collection for Target and I already know it’s going to be a favorite piece this spring and summer! Bronzed shoulders, here I come! The top looks great with distressed jeans and some comfy flats. When you’re running around all day it’s important to be comfortable! I always keep a pair of nude heels in my car though, just in case I need to look a little more dressed up.
When I know I’m going to be gone all day, it’s nice to wear a dress that can easily transition for an evening event. This striped dress is a great casual piece although with the right shoes and accessories it’s perfect for after hours! I wore the dress {also from the Who What Wear collection} with a pair of black sandal heels, a statement necklace, and a bright red lip.
Being able to switch up my hairstyle on-the-go is also helpful. That’s where those curls come in handy! For an evening event, I can just pull my hair back into a messy low bun and pin with a few bobby pins. Tip: always keep a travel-sized hairspray in your purse or car! It’s so helpful when you want to switch up your style. I like the Nexxus Comb Thru Hairspray because it’s really flexible and doesn’t cause my hair to look stiff or forced. Plus, it tames those pesky flyaways!
