Sneaking in last minute with an August Edit of all the things I’ve loved this past month. As sad as I am to say goodbye to summer, you’ll notice that I’m looking forward to fall clothing. It might have to do with the fact that we’re having a major heat wave in Southern California this week. I’m talking 90+ degrees by the beach! I would be inside in our AC but we found out the hard way that our AC unit in the new house is very old and very inefficient. Let’s just say we paid more in 1 month in the new house than we did all last year in the old one. Yikes! So I need to figure out a game plan. Beach? AC car rides? Hiding out at the mall? Grandma and Papa’s house? Maybe all of the above!
THE AUGUST EDIT
One trend that I’ve been very slow to adapt is the loafer slide. For the longest time, I just didn’t get it. But now I kinda love them. I guess it’s true what they say: You see something long enough you start to love it! I like the ease of a backless shoe, and the loafer style is perfect for fall. I’d wear them with a cute little dress, perhaps this chambray shirtdress, or a pair of loose boyfriend jeans and a feminine blouse. Speaking of blouses, they’re really my favorite way to update an outfit. {You already know how I feel about blouses with shorts!}. This black blouse has the prettiest detail on the sleeves and would be so great to wear to work with a pair of slim pants. Bring this cognac tote along too! It will be your new fave bag – for work or play! I’ve had my eye on a brown bag for fall because I think it would be incredibly versatile. I really love this bag but I don’t know if I’m wanting to spend the money on it right now. What do you think? House project or bag?
If you’re looking for an easy way to update your outfits for fall, try a pair of hoop earrings. This style is a little more classy than those 90s thin hoops but they’re just as fun! I also love this layered necklace because it would even look great with a simple tee {plain white or striped with a tie!}. And for makeup, I’ve been using this new eyeshadow palette. All the colors are so good on Glambition!
Are you starting to shop more for fall right now? I know it can be hard to think of when you’re dealing with late summer heat waves, but I feel like it’s given me something to look forward to. Matthew and I are already planning some fun fall activities to do with the little guy!
I hope you all have a wonderful week! And for my readers in Texas, I’m thinking about you during this crazy hurricane season. My best friend’s husband is in Houston and she’s trying to get back to him but her flights have been canceled and delayed. Hoping everything clears up soon!
