Happy Friday friends! Didn’t this feel like a short week with our MLK holiday on Monday? Not complaining! We have lots of friend and family time this weekend- seeing my parents in LA and Matthew’s family in San Diego. Hoping to squeeze in a fun date night at home too! We’ve been wanting to make this black pepper shrimp recipe and if it turns out, I’ll share it on the blog! We’re going to try to make it with cauliflower rice since we’ve been doing some healthier substitutions this month.
Today I wanted to share with you a fun laid back outfit! If any of you are wondering how to style a sweatshirt dress, that doesn’t look tooooo casual, I have some ideas for you! PLUS I’m sharing some other comfy cozy pieces that you could dress up too!
If any of you are looking for a gorgeous necklace that won’t break the bank, I’ve been obsessed with this star necklace from Gorjana. It is so pretty!

How to Style a Sweatshirt Dress
Ok, so here’s how to style a swetashirt dress that looks a little more put together but still keeps the casual vibe going!
- Go for the Details! Choose a sweatshirt dress that has something interesting about it. This one is powder blue and has these fun ruffle sleeves. Doesn’t look like a sweatshirt dress, but it is!
- Belt it! Honestly, a belt does wonders! It draws in the waist and keeps you from looking too bulky. I love adding a belt to give a look a little more of a polished finish.
- Style Your Hair– If you do something different to your hair, like add a fun braid or bring on some curls, you won’t look like you just rolled out of bed. In my experience, hair can totally help elevate an outfit.
- Choose your Shoes Wisely– Sneakers will really amp up the casual look but heels will make the look feel way too dressy. Instead, I chose a pair of unique flats. This pair with the bow is so cute and while they’re casual, they help tie the look together.
DRESS UP THESE SWEATSHIRT PIECES
I hope you all liked this post! I feel like sweatshirt dresses, like this one, are a great choice for your wardrobe when you want to be comfortable. You really can dress them up or down, but still maintain that laid-back look.
Have the best weekend and I’ll see you Monday!
