I am just loving my new travel series called “My Perfect Day.” I’ve been asking my blogging friends to share their perfect day in the city they live in and boy have they delivered! I want to visit every single spot they’ve shared to far! Today, Merritt Beck of The Style Scribe is sharing her perfect day in Dallas, Texas. You can’t miss her tip on checking out 90,000 pumpkins! Yes, that’s real!
My Perfect Day: Dallas, TX with Merritt Beck
Hey guys! It’s Merritt from The Style Scribe here… thank you to my good gal pal Mara for asking me to share my perfect day in Dallas! Since fall is in full swing, I thought it would be even more fun to share my perfect FALL day in the city. Dallas is such a fun place to be this time of year – the weather is bearable (we have some really hot summers!!!!), there are a ton of festive fall events going on, and lots of football and basketball to watch around these parts. If you happen to be visiting Dallas this season, check out this little itinerary I created – and if you like that, be sure to check out A Detailed Destination! I craft comprehensive itineraries from my travels available for download. I’ve created them for Japan, London, Paris, Portugal, and more. Thanks again, Mara, for asking me to me a part of this fun series!!!
9:00am – Pick up breakfast at Bubba’s. Highly recommend a sausage egg & cheese biscuit sandwich, biscuits & gravy or a cinnamon roll. SO GOOD. It’s a Dallas staple. If you’re in the mood for healthier fare, head to The Juice Bar and get an acai bowl or the Purple Haze smoothie!
9:30am – Visit the Pumpkin Village at the Dallas Arboretum. It is magical! It features more than 90,000 pumpkins, squash and gourds, displayed in various charming scenes over a large portion of the gardens. Such a great place for family photos, picking out your pumpkins for the season, and general merriment. I go every year! The Pumpkin Village is on from September 22-November 21.
11:00am – Go to the State Fair of Texas! If you happen to be in Dallas during the month of October, this is an absolute must. Whether you’re going for the games, the food, the live music, the stock yard fun or the rides, there’s truly something for everyone and it is SUCH A BLAST! There are hundreds of vendors selling the best of carnival eats: from turkey legs to fried Reeses and funnel cakes, the options are literally endless. Arrive hungry, and definitely be sure to get a corny dog from Fletcher’s and fried Oreos for dessert!
3:00pm – Head to Forty Five Ten downtown and then onto Highland Park Village for the best designer shopping. Forty Five Ten is a beautifully curated department store featuring brands like Celine, Miu Miu, Victoria Beckham, Brock Collection and more! Highland Park Village is a luxury shopping center featuring single-brand stores for Chanel, Fendi, Lela Rose, Saint Laurent and more, alone with boutiques like Market, Madison, etc. Highland Park Village also has a bunch of delicious restaurants like Fachini, Honor Bar, Royal Blue Grocery, Bistro and Lounge 31, etc. One of my favorite places in Dallas – I visit Highland Park Village at least twice a week! In fact, Highland Park Village is opening a members-only social club called Park House later this year (similar to Soho House!)… I’m a member and can’t wait to see it completed!
6:00pm – After getting ready for the night, I’d head back to Highland Park Village to grab drinks at Honor Bar or Lounge 31 before dinner.
8:00pm – Grab dinner at Bullion. This upscale French restaurant is pretty new to the scene, and it’s popular for good reason. The space is absolutely gorgeous (you MUST get there early and grab a drink at the bar before dinner – darling!), the service is great and the food is outstanding. Best Duck a l’Orange of my life!! If you’re not in the mood for French food, Fachini in Highland Park Village is another new favorite with a similar, fancy vibe – just with Italian cuisine! Some other dinner places I love include Neighborhood Services, Shinsei, E-Bar (casual Tex-Mex!), Gemma, Sprezza, Dolce Riviera, and HG Supply Co.
10:00pm – finish off the evening with drinks at The Mansion Bar. They’ve got live music every Friday and Saturday night, great cocktails and a cozy lounge feel on the inside. There’s also a large patio if the weather is nice!
I hope you liked the third installation of my new travel series! Make sure to stop by The Style Scribe and say hi to Merritt! Are there any locations or bloggers you’d like to see next?? Let me know in the comments!
