Summer is here, y’all! There’s something about the warmer weather and ocean breezes that just makes me so happy! More than ever now I really want to celebrate and enjoy each season. Spring went by in a flash and I don’t want the same to happen with our summer. I feel like for the past few months I’ve been doing so much online shopping {lots of time inside will do that to a girl!} and I’ve found some of the cutest summer clothes. When deciding what to buy though I realized I kept coming back to one criterion that should be a rule for me no matter the season. But, nevertheless, this is my one rule for summer clothes. You have to let me know if it’s yours too!
My One Rule for Summer Clothes

So I think it’s obvious that summer clothes are cute right? Ok good! But the one thing it really really has to be for me is comfortable! I’m just in a stage in life right now where if it’s not comfortable I will not wear it. It can be the cutest thing, but I’ll pass it over in my closet in an instant for something that I know will work for all-day wear.
First up, overalls! Probably the comfiest summer staple you could own. I have a long jean pair but last summer I was realizing how I would wear a shorts version much more often. Not many people can bear jeans in the heat of summer, so shorts just make a little more sense. I got this pair of denim shorties and have loved how comfy and versatile they are. I also think the distressing detail makes them a little more fun and modern. You can pair overalls with a basic tee {this one is such a good price and the fit is perfectly relaxed}, or you can go with a pretty blouse.
I’ve been loving loose bohemian pieces lately, so this blue and white blouse immediately stood out. The sleeves are voluminous without getting in the way of basic tasks, the color combo is very versatile for any wardrobe, and it seems like a flattering silhouette that would work for various body types. Love how the blouse looks with overalls but it is so cute with regular jeans too!
I’ve been wearing these sandal heels a bunch the past few months {last worn here!}, and I keep choosing them because the heel height is so ideal. It’s slightly more dressed up than a basic sandal, but it’s not a high heel that is going to be uncomfortable for all-day wear, or hanging out with the kids.
This woven bag has been a big favorite lately {I’ve worn it here if you missed it!}. The price is so good and the black color goes with everything. I especially love how well it ejects sand after a day at the beach! It’s on sale right now so if you’re interested definitely get it before it sells out!
Can you believe all these items are from Walmart?! They’ve had the cutest things and I especially love that they ship so quickly if you’re not ready to go back into stores right now. I bought this blouse at 11pm and I swear it arrived the next day! My favorite brands they carry right now are Scoop {still wearing this dress once a week}, and Time & Tru. All the pieces I’ve gotten from them have been so comfy and cute! They also carry some Levi’s too!

All About Animal Print
Have all of you been seeing how in style animal print is right now? I am loving all these fun patterns, they make any outfit look so trendy! I love this leopard print slip dress, it can be dressed up in so many ways. Animal prints are so great because of how versatile they are, they can so easily be styled to look dressy or casual! For a more casual style, these tiger print slide on sandals are perfect and they look adorable paired with this leopard print straw bag. This combination is a subtle mix of prints and so perfect for summer. If you are not totally ready to wear a bold animal print quite yet, I would go for some printed shoes! Adding a pair of snakeskin espadrilles is a great way to add some pattern to your look without looking too wild!
Flirty and Feminine
This is personally one of my favorite style combinations! I love wearing flattering pieces with feminine touches. I like to look for details like a small puff sleeve, dainty floral prints or even a floppy sun hat; they add such a sweet touch to any look. These blush pink flats are seriously so cute and can really soften your look, I looove the scallops around the ankle and the pointy toe. Skirts are another great option, this pink scalloped skirt has beautiful embroidery around the hem that is adorable. Of course you can’t forget about the classic midi dress! I am loving this blush pink midi, it has seersucker detailing around the bust and the perfect little slit on the side, so cute!
Classic White Dress
I think everyone can agree that a white dress is just perfect for summer! I have really been liking white eyelet dresses, they are so cute and lightweight for hot days. This white off the shoulder maxi dress looks perfect for a dinner by the beach. It is so easy to slip on some flat sandals, really in any color. If you are going for a beachy styled look, these blue woven sandals are perfect when paired with a straw tote bag. This white collared dress is great for a casual day, it’s so easy to pair with some simple sneakers and looks put together!
