casual mom style - M Loves M @marmar

Happy Sunday and happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there! I think Matthew is talking about going out for lunch which will be fun. I don’t think I’ve mentioned that my mother-in-law has been living with us, so that makes the day that much more special to be together. Missing my mom in Los Angeles though!! Gah it’s hard to spend holidays apart.

Here’s a little recap of our week:

WHAT WE ATE

my plan is to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.

MONDAY- Balsamic Grilled Skirt Steak with Charred Tomatoes– Matthew was obsessed! He said we need to make this once a week, which you know by now is a top compliment!

TUESDAY- Easy Skillet Cheesy Green Chile Enchilada Bake– I used 1 poblano instead of 2 (pre-roasting it), and it was yummy! Such an easy, crowd-pleaser.

WEDNESDAY- Chicken Tzatziki Bowls – This was the surprise favorite of the week! I love Greek food and while it’s not Matthew’s favorite, he really liked this one! Also, the kids loved the chicken that was grilled in this yummy yogurt and turmeric marinade.

THURSDAY- Crispy Oven Pork Sliders with Coleslaw Salad and homemade Hawaiian sweet rolls– You might remember we’ve made this recipe a few times. It’s one of Augustine’s favorites and always requested.

FRIDAY- Meatloaf and Potato Salad- from this cookbook. Somewhat similar to this recipe of hers but would highly recommend trying the cookbook version. Corinna is our most particular eater and she ate the whole thing up which is not typically how things go around here.

SATURDAY- Burger Night with salad and sweet potato fries

SUNDAY- Creamy Bacon and Tuscan Shrimp with fresh sourdough {from this cookbook}

cookies with a glass of cold milk will always be a favorite treat!

WHAT I WORE

We are definitely at the end of our spring weather because the temperatures are rising fast! It seemed like our spring was so short, but we enjoyed some fun thundershowers and lightning storms this week. One day I was in a rain jacket and the next in shorts and a tee {I wear the heathered oat one all the time}. It will be interesting to see what our summer weather is like but it’s typically very hot and dry.

Margaux is one of my favorite shoe brands and I just got this Downtown Boot. I had my eye on this pair of slides and these sandals but I feel like my wardrobe is really missing a classic everyday boot and these look so perfect with the suede and stacked heel. I feel like it’s a boot I can wear any season and I love how comfortable they are.

This striped tee has held up for several years. It has a great comfortable and soft material and I can wear it year-round.

ON MY MIND

This week I took Corinna out for some special mommy/daughter time. It was so nice to catch up with her and she loved getting a special steamer latte {foamed milk with cinnamon and honey}. How cute are her little flower sunglasses?!

We spent a lot of time outside this week with picnic lunches and dinner on our patio. You really appreciate spring after a long winter!

Lots of snuggles with my tiniest girl too! How cut are those baby bell bottoms? They were a hand-me-down from a cousin and Corinna wore them too.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

swing set - M Loves M @marmar

Happy Sunday friends! I hope you all are enjoying your weekend! Today our big job is to do some planting in the backyard. We got a few vining plants that we want to get into the ground. We’ve had a lot of rain and wind this week and I think they’ll do much better when planted. I’m so happy that many of my little seedlings are taking off too! It’s so encouraging because last year I didn’t have the best luck with gardening.

Here’s a little recap of our week:

WHAT WE ATE

WHAT I WORE

I’ve been loving this nursing-friendly jumpsuit this week. It’s so pretty with the pointelle pattern. You can size down because it does have a little stretch. I love it paired with denim jackets or comfy cardigans.

ON MY MIND

Matthew and I celebrated 12 years married this weekend! Can you believe it?! It seems like just yesterday I was sharing our Wedding Wednesday posts, with all the wedding DIY prep we were doing. We celebrated with a sushi date lunch, a coffee shop outing, and then I made a chocolate cake for dessert. If you need a good go-t0 chocolate cake, I love Ina’s recipe!

If you’re looking for a last-minute Mother’s Day gift, how beautiful are these earrings? They’re so stunning and such a great price too!

I posted a bunch to my Poshmark last week FYI. Lots of nice jewelry too!

This week is super busy with baseball practices and games, ballet class, and recital practice. It was actually challenging to menu plan because a lot of our commitments are in the evenings. I’m going to default to some crock-pot recipes and prep what I can the night before.

I finished reading (and thoroughly enjoyed) Habits of the Household. It gave me so many great ideas of rhythms to include in our family routines. I requested it from the library but it might be one that I purchase because I want Matthew to read it too. It would be a great book to go through as a couple. My current book is The Mission of Motherhood which I’ve heard amazing things about!

blue pajamas with baby beatrice - M Loves M @marmar

Happy Sunday friends! This weekend has been so life-giving. The skies have been blue and sunny, perfectly breezy, and 80 degrees! This California girl is quite happy! Plus I got away for a little thrifting time with a friend, made some super yummy chocolate chip cookies, and was productive around the house. Also, we’re finally healthy after a rough start to the week with the stomach flu. Praising the Lord for health and sunshine!

Here’s a little recap of our week:

WHAT WE ATE

my plan is to share the meals I made the previous week, with links if possible, as some inspiration for your own menu planning.

MONDAY- sick dinner of carbs and broth

TUESDAY- Grilled Shrimp Lettuce Wraps

WEDNESDAY- Sheet Pan Gnocchi– I loved how easy and flavorful this meal was. Feel free to play around with what you roast.

THURSDAY- Green Rice Burrito Bowls- I added this cilantro vinaigrette to the rice and wow so delicious! Add some black beans, pico de gallo, guac, shredded lettuce, and Jack cheese on top and you have one yummy dinner.

FRIDAY- Fennel Pork Meatballs in a brothy tomato sauce with fresh sourdough- This tasted like something you’d get at a fancy restaurant. The sourdough to dip in the broth is a must! We’ll definitely make this one again!

SATURDAY- Burger Night

SUNDAY- Spring Puttanesca Pasta

ON MY MIND

We had our first dinner of the season outside and it was so nice! I love eating outside when it’s warm enough and seeing the signs of spring around our neighborhood has been so encouraging after our long winter.

With our sudden rise in temperatures, I’m feeling inspired to put away all our winter things. We did get an abnormal snowstorm the first week of May last year but our forecast looks good so far (fingers crossed!). I need to bring out my spring clothing boxes and assess what fits and what is also nursing-friendly for summer. I am looking to add some wearable basics to my wardrobe and the first thing on my mind are these linen shorts. They look so cute and comfortable and I’d wear them with a tee or a button-up, maybe a denim jacket if it’s a little cooler. My first thought was to get the oatmeal color, but now I’m torn between oatmeal and white. Which would you wear more often? I also think the shorts would be especially cute with these Margaux sandals (on my wishlist!)

Picked up a new mascara and I’m so impressed! My lashes look way longer than normal with this one as opposed to the one I had been using. Love that it’s an affordable option too.

Have any of you started shopping for Mother’s Day gifts? I wish I could share what I’m thinking about for my mom but since she reads my blog I’ll have to tell you afterward. I did get her this straw bag a few years ago with some fun things inside like flowers, a candle, a bottle of rosé, and I think a makeup product or two. If your mom loves to bake, this pie dish is one of my favorites. I also have the ruffled loaf pan that’s special too! It’s nice to have some matching pieces.

Can you believe baby Beatrice is 6 months old?! Halfway to a year and I can’t believe it. I’m so looking forward to her first summer. I just want to savor every moment with this special girly! These little wooden milestone cards have been such a fun way to document each month.
