Backstage Beauty at Tracy Reese

Backstage Beauty at Tracy Reese M Loves M @marmar
I still remember my first time at Fashion Week. I felt nervous and scared and not really worthy of attending. I felt like I was just this girl who had a blog and why would I be invited? Working as a buyer, that made more sense, but this felt totally unrelated. Attending my first show felt surreal. The lights were dark and then all of a sudden they turned on and were blazing bright. The music was fast and loud, and all attention was turned towards the runway entrance. Then, you see a tall, lanky girl walk out in a stunning outfit, with hair and makeup perfectly done. You see her whisk past you and you’re jut in awe. It’s enough to make anyone fall in love with fashion and beauty.
This season I’ve felt that same way, but also in a completely new way by being invited backstage. Backstage is where all the magic really happens. It’s a little hectic with the stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, nail artists, coordinators, media, press, etc, all fitting into one space but it is so cool! Mary Kay invited me backstage at Tracy Reese on Sunday and I was so excited to see the process of getting the models runway ready. Since so often you see photos of the finished looks, I thought it would be fun for you to see what happens behind the scenes and also give you some details about the makeup look they created, especially considering how wearable it is.

The beauty looks at Tracy Reese were fresh and natural, which I loved. They were inspired by light and transparency. Tracy wanted to incorporate shine and sparkle through the use of sequins and beautiful rhinestones but in a soft, organic way that wasn’t too soft and precious. I feel like my regular beauty looks tend to be pretty fresh and modern so I was excited to see how she translated that on the runway.

This is the outfit I wore backstage. {check out the outfit post!}

The eyes had a very defined lash with the Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in black and bronzed eyes with Mineral Eye Color in Amber Blaze (fair skin) or Rosegold (dark skin). The color was applied with a fluffy brush to make it a little softer. They used the Mary Kay At Play Bold Fluid Eyeliner in Gold Metal and blended downward and across the lash line for a little hint of sparkle.

To create the soft, rosy cheeks the makeup artists used the Mary Kay At Play Lip and Cheek Stick in Peach Pop (fair skin) or Razzleberry (dark skin). I love how the cheeks have that “caught in the wind” look.
how to create a just bitten lip stain M Loves M @marmar
I love a dewy lip look and found out the makeup artists used the Mary Kay True Dimensions Lipstick in Sizzling Red on the models. To create the stained, “bitten” look you dab the color on the top lash† line and blend with your fingers to create a stain. Then, add a lip gloss on top to the center of the lip. Such a good trick!
One of my favorite Mary Kay products is the Satin Lips Mask, so I loved hearing that they used it on the models. It makes sense though! I apply it for 1-2 minutes and after removing it by lips are so smooth. It’s the best lipstick prep!

My favorite element was the rhinestone “freckles” for added sparkle. So fun right?! Definitely going to be doing that next spring for outdoor parties!

While this was for Spring 2016, I for one will definitely be incorporating these looks this fall, especially the stained lips and rosy cheeks! What do you think about the beauty looks? I hope you’re inspired to try it on your own.

feminine heels with a little edge

Oatmeal cardigan with pink lace top and cuffed jeans M Loves M @marmar
The right shoe can totally make the outfit! My love for
neutrals and bows runs deep so I totally fell for these Kate Spade pumps. I
love that they’re feminine but they have a little edge to them with the grommet
detail. The metal grommets aren’t super noticeable from far away, but then you see them up close and you’re like, “oh hey!”
I feel like my Kate Spade shoe collection is growing these days and I’m
totally ok with it. Still in love with this white pair, and I know these suede ones will be worn a TON this fall and winter. If you’re curious about which style I want next…it’s these beauties! Perfect for fall, right? I loved attending Kate Spade’s Fall presentation on Friday. Spring looks so good so of course I can’t wait! That’s the one thing about fashion week, you’re always looking a few seasons ahead! You see Spring in Fall, and Fall in Spring. Such a tease, right?!

In keeping with the neutrals I paired the shoes with this
oatmeal cardigan and a pair of light jeans. This sweater is soft and cozy and I
love how the beige looks with the pink in the top. Another thing you know I
love: lace! The dusty pink is so pretty and would look great with fall colors,
like mustard or olive.

I can’t believe it’s Monday! Are we really starting a new week? Whenever I’m in NYC for Fashion Week the days totally blend and I get so mixed up {with times too!}. I’ve been having such a great trip though. Yesterday I went backstage at Tracy Reese with Mary Kay and it was so cool! I was obsessed with the beauty looks they put together. I’ll be sharing more about that this week so stay tuned!

Have a great day everyone!

blue and burgundy

A versatile navy dress with burgundy leather jacket for fall M Loves M @marmar
This navy blue dress is such a classic piece but I love that
I can make it a little more edgy with a leather jacket and a pair of gold
sandals. It’s the kind of dress that would work for your office wardrobe or
even for a wedding. The material is nice and thick and I know I’m going to love
it with a plaid scarf during fall!

Happy Friday everyone! Don’t you love a short week? This
week has felt even shorter than normal because of traveling back from the Bay
Area, traveling to New York yesterday, and having a crazy busy Christmas {yes I
said Christmas!} shoot in between. I wish I didn’t have to hit the ground
running in NYC but I’ll be living off of the adrenaline for the next couple
days. Make sure to follow my NYFW adventures on Instagram. I’m also going to
try and Snapchat my way through it, if my phone’s battery allows it!

People were asking if I got my hair done before I left for NYC but I think it just looked like it because of this Kerastase Chronologiste Treatment I got from my local salon. FYI I would highly recommend it! I felt like I needed to freshen up my hair between cuts and this totally did the trick. I think it looks so much shinier (and probably healthier too!}. The treatment is really nourishing and helps get rid of build up on the hair shaft from regular use of products. If you’re looking for a new hair treatment to try I’d recommend this one! I feel like most salons that Kerastase will probably offer it!
