The Product You Must Include in Your Hair Routine

the product you must inclue in your hair routine M Loves M @marmar
When I was younger, my hair routine was incredibly simple. It consisted of washing with shampoo and conditioner and that was about it. Oh, and hairspray if I wanted my hair to hold. Now there is an abundance of products at our disposal from mousse to hair masks, set and style sprays to root lifters, all kinds of serums, I could go on! I’ve started to incorporate some more products into my routine in recent years, and one step I seem to always include is using a hair oil.

I’ve tried a bunch but recently I started using NEXXUS New York Salon Care’s Infinite Nourishing Oil and it’s been so great. It smoothes and nourishes my hair, without leaving it greasy- this is an absolute must for a hair oil! Their oil is also made with a blend of precious oils, including Babassu, Marula, Buriti, Sweet Almond, Macademia and Sunflower oils. As you can imagine, it smells amazing! I love that it’s a versatile product, too, since it can be used on damp or dry hair. On dry hair, I apply one pump on the middle of the hair to the ends, which helps improve manageability and makes it easier to style. On dry hair, it’s the perfect final touch! It reduces frizz, adds shine, and smoothes my hair. It’s become a habit to always apply it and I even take some of it with me when I travel!

dressing for fall during a late summer heat wave

dressing for fall during a late summer heat wave M Loves M @marmar
Matthew and I got a nice taste of fall weather when we were up in Lake Tahoe this weekend, but coming back to LA we were hit with the heat. I’m so looking forward to it cooling down a bit. Until then I’ll be dressing like it’s fall, even though it feels like summer! Who else is with me?
This outfit is the perfect summer to fall outfit. A sleeveless cowl neck top is an ode to autumn weather, but the light material and lack of sleeves will keep you cool. This tweed mini skirt is another piece in a fall texture and style, but totally doable if you have to bear those high temps.
I’ve been really feeling the 70s vibe lately so these fringe booties totally won me over! They are so fun to walk in! Definitely bringing them with me on my upcoming trip to NYC!

I’m leaving bright and early for NYC tomorrow morning and I’m so excited! I feel so lucky to be able to attend Fashion Week and each season I get struck by this huge wave of gratitude. It seems so cheesy but I do feel very appreciative. This blog has given me so many wonderful opportunities in the past 6 years. I might not always be lucky enough to go to Fashion Week so I’m seizing the opportunity now! Get ready for lots of NYC Instagrams and Snaps!
Also, on a side note, I’d love to hear from you! Fashion Week coverage on my social media channels has been mixed in the past so I’d love to know what you’re interested in seeing. Do you like seeing photos from the runway show? Presentations? Beauty looks? Just general NYC adventures? I’d love to know!

Labor Day Weekend in Lake Tahoe

Labor Day Weekend in Lake Tahoe M Loves M @marmar
This past weekend was such a fun and memorable one. Growing up, my family spent a week or two every summer in Lake Tahoe. Lake Tahoe is in Northern California, about 2 1/2 hours from Sacramento. My Grandpa actually built the house as a present for my Grandma back in the 1940s. Lake Tahoe has some of my absolute favorite memories with my Grandma, my parents, my brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins. I haven’t been back since 2007 and I can hardly believe it’s been that long. A lot changes in 8 years! This weekend was basically a family reunion with everyone on my Dad’s side of the family. Unfortunately my brother and my cousin Kevin were the only two not able to make it. As fun as it was, it definitely didn’t feel the same without them.
Ginger on a roadtrip to Lake Tahoe M Loves M @marmar
Matthew and I drove up Thursday afternoon and had a pretty long drive due to holiday weekend traffic, a few accidents, and construction. Ginger was a good backseat driver though and of course we had to stop for In-N-Out!

One of my favorite things to do in Tahoe when I was younger was go horseback riding! Matthew has never been on a horse before {can you believe it?!} so this was extra special. Also, how cool that his first time was at the stables I used to go to as a kid!

Matthew was so in awe of the horses and of course wants one of his own now!

We found some cute new shops like this one, Wildwood! They carried a lot of pretty pieces by local artists and jewelry makers.

I finally got the chance to wear this gorgeous beach cover up from Bell! Can’t wait to wear it in a few weeks on my Europe trip, too! The print is so pretty!
water levels in Lake Tahoe M Loves M @marmar
You can see a little bit of how the California drought has affected the lake. When I was here last, the water covered that grassy area and went to the stones. There was very little sand area so this wasn’t a beach you could lay out at.

I’m still loving this blue one-piece swimsuit! It’s unfortunately sold out but all of Shoshanna’s swimsuits are so pretty!

Not having been to Tahoe since 2007 I was surprised at how much has changed. Most of the Factory Stores at the Y were closed, the Tillys is now a TJ Maxx {this is a good thing!}, the Longs drugstore was closed {I used to get new products there every summer like tanning oil, lipstick, and new lotions}. Also I couldn’t get over the low water levels on the South Shore. Hopefully with the rain and snow we’re expected to have this year, the lake will fill up a little more.
I was surprised to see that a lot stayed the same, though. The Sno-flake was still busy serving up their yummy soft serve, the Zephyr Cove Stable still had their horseback riding, and the house (even though recently remodeled) still felt like home.  I was so excited to bring Matthew there and show him around. I always dreamed of bringing my husband to my favorite place so this was incredibly special. I feel like our weekend there was way too short but I’m hoping we can plan to stay longer next summer! You really need at least 5 days there to totally relax and unwind!
How was your weekend everyone? Did you go anywhere? Or did you stay local?
