Back to School Essentials for Fall 2015 M Loves M @marmar
Whether you’re going back to school, back to work, or just back to life from a restful summer, these items above are some of my favorites. Every year mid-August I start to get those end of summer blues. I might not be going back to school, but I am sad to see summer go, along with beach days, outdoor dinner parties, movies under the stars, and warm-weather travel. Life just seems to be a lot more simple during the summertime. One thing that has always seemed to cheer me up was back to school shopping! A new pair of shoes, un-cracked notebooks, and a first day outfit made it almost worthwhile. Now, I still feel like I need a little pick-me-up, so I found some items that would be perfect for starting back to your regular routine.
A new WATCH is a must-have so you can stay on schedule. No more summer Fridays over here…unfortunately!
A TOTE BAG for your laptop and books is crucial and I love this fun berry color. It beats navy and black by a long shot, don’t you think?
Getting back to AC office temperatures doesn’t have to be so bad when you have a pretty little SCARF. It’s also light enough to wear with your late summer outfits. Think t-shirt, jeans and a wide-brim hat!
LOAFERS are super cute to wear in fall, and why not try them in this fun metallic silver color? I love how fun they would make any outfit stand out!
You can’t go wrong with a CLASSIC BUTTON-UP SHIRT! It will totally work hard for you and your wardrobe. Read: endless combinations!
Every year in the late summer I go for my annual eye exam. Here’s to hoping I can get these TORTOISE EYEGLASSES next! The two-tone color makes them different than all my other tortoise glasses. I like what I like!
And for the times between class, or between meetings, take a break with these awesome WHITE AND ROSE GOLD HEADPHONES. I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately and love the idea of bringing these along with me. Putting my phone on Speaker isn’t always the most well-received.
And who would I be without making any excuse for a new LIPSTICK? This berry color is gorgeous and will go perfectly with all your fall outfits!
Do you like shopping for back to school? I’d love to hear what you’re on the lookout for!

chambray and tweed

August 17, 2015
how to wear chambray in fall 2015 M Loves M @marmar
If chambray and tweed doesn’t say back to school, I don’t know what does. Ok, maybe plaid and loafers. And burgundy and mustard. Or scarves and corduroy! Hm..there is a reason I love fall clothes…there are so many options! This pink mini skirt is such a cute piece. The plaid is classic but I love that the pink and blue colors make it fun and slightly more interesting. I also think the color palette is good for the transition from summer to fall. This skirt could easily be worn with a pretty white tank. I paired the look with these mule sandals in a versatile taupe color. Shoes like these ones are so easy for running around and staying comfortable while still looking put together. I totally rely on them!

How was your weekend everyone? Matthew and I were in Santa Barbara for a wedding and we had so much fun. I feel like Matthew and I fall in love with every city we travel to, like Seattle! We’ve been to SB before but this time was much more memorable. We had some incredible meals, found a bunch of cute stores, drank delicious coffee, and basically pretended to house hunt. All the neighborhoods are so cute and I love that Spanish-style architecture. We can pretend! Matthew and I also started seriously planning an international trip for fall. I’m so excited and can’t wait to share more as soon as our tickets are booked! We haven’t done a big big trip since our honeymoon so I’m totally looking forward to it!

How to Dress Up a Casual Outfit for Date Night

August 14, 2015
4 steps to getting dressed up and out the door for a date night M Loves M @marmar
Happy Friday everyone! Yesterday I talked about how I prep for date night. Even though it’s so much easier to stay home in comfy clothes, it’s nice to get dressed up. I got to thinking, though. Why can’t I wear comfy clothes on a date night? Jeans and a sweater are relaxed pieces but they’re definitely more easily fitted for a casual daytime outfit. Even still, I wanted to show you how you can dress up that jeans and a sweater outfit for a night out on the town. HINT: it’s surprisingly easy. You can easily incorporate these changes to be out the door in 5 minutes. Bonsu: it will totally impress your date!

4 TIPS TO DRESSING UP JEANS & A SWEATER FOR DATE NIGHT:
1. Add statement heels. Ditch the flats and add some height, like with these black and gold sandal heels. Heels instantly add a dressed factor to your outfits. That casual look will completely turn around.
2. Chose a bold piece of jewelry. I love this cuff bracelet. It’s unique design is really eye catching.
3. Apply a dramatic lipstick choice. Red lips are always my go-to but how about a deep purple shade? It adds a dramatic edge to your outfit that’s perfect for a candlelit dinner.
4. Grab a clutch and you’re out the door! A clutch is a date-night must! Just make sure to put in the 10 date night bag essentials!
Are you going to join me and be a jeans and sweater date night girl? You have two opportunities this weekend! Maybe three 😉
