It has been way too long since I’ve done a DIY. If you remember, I did the bulk of the DIY projects for our wedding. It was a lot of fun, time consuming, but a lot of fun! As life has gotten busier, it’s been more challenging to find the time to craft but I really enjoy it and it helps me unwind.
I saw a pretty tassel pillow in a store the other week for almost $100 and I couldn’t help but think I could do something similar but for a whole lot cheaper! I love the shade of pink, and since I couldn’t decide on one pink color, I did a variety. It turned into an ombre pink color palette that I love. It looks so pretty in our living room that’s mainly blue, white and gray. Pink provides a pretty infusion of color that isn’t too overpowering. I think this pillow would look great in shades of blue or gray too, though. You could definitely experiment and make it work for your home. Read on to find out how to make your own DIY TASSEL PILLOW:
STEP 1: Cut out a piece of cardboard with a width equal to the length you want your tassel to be. I just eyeballed it and made it about 1.5-2 inches wide. Wrap embroidery floss around cardboard a set number of times. By keeping it the same, you’ll ensure that you have equal thickness. I did about 25 rotations around for my pillow and then cut off excess. I’ll save it for another craft project!
STEP 2: Cut a 4 inch piece of floss and tie and knot it at one end of the loop you created.
STEP 3: Cut the strands at the other end of your loop and then place the cardboard piece aside.
STEP 4: Using another 4 inch strand, tie a knot near the top of the tassel. Trim any excess.
I made 32 tassels for this project, eight on each side of the pillow.
STEP 5: To add tassels to a pillow, sew through the top knot of tassel into the edge of pillow until secure.

I forgot how much I looove overalls! I wore these guys for the 4th of July last weekend and reached for them multiple times this past week. They are just so comfortable! I love that the legs are slightly more tapered and you can cuff or uncuff the bottoms. I paired them with another comfortable favorite, my two-tone mules, and this fun geometric top. The top has a fun tie detail on the shoulders which I love! The ties look especially cute peaking out from behind the overall’s straps! Another amazing thing about these overalls {I could go on and on!} is that there’s a little pocket on the front which is perfect for lipstick, chapstick, your phone, you name it. I like a handy pocket!

How was your weekend everyone? Did you do any shopping? I got this and can’t wait for it to get here! I’m going to be stalking the UPS truck!
Saturday, Matthew and I went down to Orange Country for my event with Tadashi Shoji at South Coast Plaza. It was such a fun event in their beautiful new store! Afterwards, we went to Mozza for dinner and got our favorite Bianca pizza with crispy fried safe on top. It’s soo yummy! Matthew and I conquered a bunch of organizational projects around the house yesterday which isn’t always fun but it is necessary. We contacted some people about fixing our busted closet–one of the bars broke when we moved in and we still haven’t gotten it fixed. We also re-organized the linens and made a big pile of things to donate {like my twin comforter from college!}. Not super glamorous tasks but we’ve been putting them off for so long so it felt good. I’m ready to start a new week! How about you?
This pleated pink maxi has traveled with me a bunch this spring and summer! I especially loved wearing it on the boat to Alaska. The Princess cruise to Alaska definitely had some colder weather so usually, when we were on deck, we were bundled in jackets and scarves. The windchill totally gets you! However, when we were heading in and out of some of the port towns it was a little warmer. I love this pink maxi dress and it felt like another great dress to bring along. It even worked for one of our more formal nights!

See more of my Alaska trip! And a huge thank you to Princess Cruises for this incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to be back at sea!
