I’m sharing another YouTube video for one of my favorite cocktails, The French 75. It’s a really easy drink that doesn’t require a lot of ingredients, making it perfect for a last minute party idea! Just be careful when opening the champagne bottle! haha!
DIRECTIONS
Add ingredients to a chilled cocktail shaker and shake well. Then strain into a glass half-full of cracked ice and top off with champagne. Garnish with a lemon peel and add a fun straw!
Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m off to Austin bright and early this morning for SxSW! Follow along on Instagram and Snapchat (username MaraKFerreira). It’s going to be a fun few days!
Watermelon is one of my favorite fruits during the summertime. It makes me think of bbqs and pool parties! Watermelon is so refreshing to eat on it’s own, or in a salad with feta cheese and mint {yum!}. I also love it in drink form so I decided to use it in a cocktail with one of my favorite liquors, St. Germain Elderflower. Every drink I’ve had with St. Germain is amazing so I decided to finally buy it. This watermelon cocktail with mint and lime juice is so delicious that I also made a non-alcoholic version since they can be a little too easy to knock back! You’ll thank me for both!
Watermelon Mint Cocktail makes 1 cocktail
INGREDIENTS
1.5 fl. oz. vodka
1 fl. oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liquor
2 fl. oz. Watermelon Juice {puree a few slices of watermelon, rind removed, in blender}
5 mint leaves
0.5 fl. oz lime juice
0.5 fl. oz. agave nectar
1 watermelon ball or slice, for garnish
1 mint leaf, for garnish
DIRECTIONS
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and ingredients, shake well for 10 seconds and pour into tall glass. Garnish with watermelon and mint.
optional: this could also be made non-alcoholic with 3.5 fl. oz watermelon juice, 5 mint leaves, 1 fl. oz lime juice, 1 fl oz agave nectar and topped with soda water!

Every year Matthew and I host a little holiday party. It’s something that we look forward to all month long {ok, all year long!} because it’s a chance to celebrate with our friends. Usually it’s the last time we’ll all get together before the new year since many of our friends go out of town for the holidays. Having a signature drink is always key for any party and this year our strong contender is this Spiced Apple Martini recipe. My Dad has made it for us during past Decembers, and it’s always a huge hit. It feels very seasonal with the apple and cinnamon flavors, and the star anise is the perfect touch. I also kind of love drinking out of a martini glass. I always get scared I’m going to spill but it’s just so fun and sophisticated!
Spiced Apple Martini makes 1 drink
INGREDIENTS
1 lemon wedge
2 Tbsp cinnamon sugar for rim
Ice
1 1/2 oz Laird’s applejack, or other apple brandy
1 1/2 oz natural or unsweetened apple cider
1/2 oz pommeau (French apple apertif)
1/2 oz creme de cassis
1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
1 star anise pod
DIRECTIONS
Run lemon wedge around the rim of a chilled martini glass. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar on small plate and twist martini glass rim on top. Cinnamon sugar will stick to lemon juice.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the applejack, apple cider, pommeau, creme de cassis, and lemon juice. Shake vigourosly and strain into martini glass. Garnish with star anise and serve.
