M Loves M monthly highlights October 2014 @marmar
Hello to November! Can we all just take a second to think about how crazy it is that the holiday months are here?! I felt like it was just summer! I am so excited about November though! The weather is finally cooling down {it rained this weekend!} and I can’t wait for holiday baking and all the fun parties. October was great though and I’ll definitely miss it until next year. Matthew and I kind of had a botched Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest {we didn’t have time so just did pumpkin drawings 5 minutes before the trick-or-treaters came..so sad!}. Next year I’m hoping we can get into the spirit a little bit sooner, plan {and buy or make!} our costumes well in advance, decorate our house so it’s a little spooky, go to a pumpkin patch and carve those darn pumpkins! Here are some highlights though from October 2014:
  • used up the last of our apple picking bounty with an apple galette!
  • Had a fun little day in San Diego with Matthew’s family. We went to Little Italy and got a yummy lunch from NaPizza!
  • Shot a really fun shoot with Who What Wear. I should be able to share photos within the next few weeks!
  • Checked out the new Plan Check in Downtown Los Angeles. Such a fun date night with my love!
  • Shot something special with one of my favorite jewelry brands Tacori.
  • Went to the movies {it’s been months you guys!} and saw Gone Girl. Loved it!
  • Had a fun wine tasting weekend with my girls in Temecula.
  • Enjoyed a little staycation in Santa Monica! It was way too short though!
  • Didn’t have time to get my costume together for work so just added a red wig. When it doubt, add a wig!

How was your October? Are you super excited for November too? Some people say it’s their favorite month of the year!

an autumn list

September 23, 2014
Summer is officially over and fall is here! At the very beginning of summer I put together A SUMMER LIST filled with things I knew would make the season more special and fun. Matthew and I worked on the list here and there and I think it helped us both enjoy the season a little bit more. We’re leaving summer filled with some wonderful memories and can’t wait to create more in fall! Even though there were some things we didn’t get to, we did do a good amount and the list was a huge encouragement. I thought I’d continue doing one for fall although, I have to admit, I’ve already gotten started on a few of these. Even though today is the first official day of fall I love the season so much that I really start to celebrate in mid September. Here are some of the things I’m looking forward to doing this season:

AN AUTUMN LIST

  • go apple picking {we went and had so much fun!! completed: 9/20/14}
  • make an apple pie {Thanksgiving!}
  • have a fall dinner party/potluck dinner
  • go to a pumpkin patch
  • annual pumpkin carving contest {bring it on!}
  • wine tasting weekend {10/25/14 with the girls}
  • perfect our apple cider recipe
  • go on a fall hike
  • go to a football game
  • decorate porch for fall
  • going on a thrifting/antiquing trip {went with Devon October 12th}
  • make caramel apples
  • enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte in a red cup {finally!}
  • then learn how to make pumpkin spice lattes at home!
  • have our annual chili and spaghetti night {10/31/14}
  • Find a local Oktoberfest for beer and sausage
  • volunteer project
  • make a thankful list for Thanksgiving
Do you guys have any things you’re hoping to do this season? I’d love to hear!!

october highlights

November 1, 2013
You know those days/months that pass by where you’re a little disappointed with all the things you didn’t do? I think October was one of those months for me. Fall is my favorite season and Matthew and I always try to savor it. We make lots of soups and chilis for dinners, watch our favorite intense/scary shows, light our October candle {yes, I have a candle just for the month of October haha!}, and end the month with our annual pumpkin carving content and dressing up in our Halloween costumes. I think the main reason why I feel a little disappointed is because we weren’t able to do the last two things on that list. I just got back last night from spending 8 days in New York City so the pumpkin carving was impossible to do. We couldn’t do it beforehand and I was hoping we could have time to do it last night, but it didn’t really work out. I know we could still carve them over the weekend {with pumpkins on a crazy sale!}, but is it even worth it when the holiday is over? While I can blame my trip to New York for a little bit of this, I also just feel like I’ve been so overwhelmed recently. I have a lot of exciting things on my plate, but I need to figure out a way to balance it all. Lately I’ve been going to bed between 1 and 2 am, and waking up at 6:30am! So not healthy! For a girl who likes a solid 9-10 hours, my body is kind of hating me right now. I’m so incredibly happy to be back from New York though and I’m really needing this weekend to rejuvenate and feel a little better about things! I’m hoping to see some friends, spend a work-free day with Matthew, and make some time to catch up on sleep and reading. While I know it’s easy to look back on months and regret the things you didn’t do, these posts definitely help me remember that good things happened too. It’s important to celebrate the small things, because I’m lucky to have them! Here were some of my highlights from the tenth month of 2013:
  • Pinkberry date with Matthew! I went in to try the new Hot Chocolate flavor but had to default to the original!
  • Ginger and I started going on walks. I pulled a back muscle earlier this month so the walks are helping a lot!
  • Went in to T.J. Maxx for 1 candle and came out with 3!
  • Found the most adorable fox sweater from Old Navy
  • Traveled to New York City for a work trip! While the weather was slightly colder than expected, it was still beautiful and a nice change from warm LA!
  • Explored New York and hung out at Conde Nast for Lucky FABB!
  • Tried deep fried pizza at Don Antonio by Starita in NYC! SO good!
  • Framed these beautiful prints from Ashley Cooper Design since I’m finally putting together my office space after over a year in our apartment!
  • Pulled together a last minute costume of Wednesday Addams! Why have I never thought of this before?!

What were your highlights from October 2013?
