blue geometric print dress, M Loves M
Happy 4th of July everyone! This outfit is red, white and blue..minus the red! I love this blue dress and while it could definitely be styled with some cute red flats, I’m still loving these jeweled sandals. {I promise I’m being patriotic today in my outfit though!} This dress is so fun with the bold geometric print and I love the girly peplum detail. It would look so polished styled for work with a blazer, don’t you think? Gotta love a dress that can work for multiple occasions, and of course the holidays!

Have a great Friday everyone!! Today we’re celebrating the 4th of July in our new neighborhood. We heard there are two holidays that they go all out for..Halloween & Independence Day. It’s going to be a crazy block party with streets illegally blocked off, a band, jumpy house, a taco truck, and real fireworks. We don’t know what to expect so it will be fun to experience for the first time.

Have a safe and happy holiday if you’re celebrating!

california layers

November 7, 2013
Coming back from New York’s borderline winter weather, I was hoping LA would be ready for fall. While the leaves are falling, and the sky is a golden color, it seems like we’re still getting there. {80 degrees on Halloween is not cutting it!} Layering always seems like an essential this time of year, because you never know how the weather might change. I paired an old favorite chambray shirt with a mustard sweater and a pair of the most comfy jeans! I had to bring out my new aztec coat, because if not now then when? It’s sad how little playtime my coats get, but this one is perfect because it’s not too heavy and not too light. The slightly oversized look is perfect for the season and the two front pockets come in handy!

I’m really excited that the nail wraps I’m wearing are ones that I designed with Scratch! It’s been so fun collaborating with them and Pose over the past few months and I’m so excited that they launched this week! You can find out more information on their website, and you can also purchase my M Loves Floral wrap for $12!
Hope you all are having a great Thursday!!

october highlights

November 1, 2013
You know those days/months that pass by where you’re a little disappointed with all the things you didn’t do? I think October was one of those months for me. Fall is my favorite season and Matthew and I always try to savor it. We make lots of soups and chilis for dinners, watch our favorite intense/scary shows, light our October candle {yes, I have a candle just for the month of October haha!}, and end the month with our annual pumpkin carving content and dressing up in our Halloween costumes. I think the main reason why I feel a little disappointed is because we weren’t able to do the last two things on that list. I just got back last night from spending 8 days in New York City so the pumpkin carving was impossible to do. We couldn’t do it beforehand and I was hoping we could have time to do it last night, but it didn’t really work out. I know we could still carve them over the weekend {with pumpkins on a crazy sale!}, but is it even worth it when the holiday is over? While I can blame my trip to New York for a little bit of this, I also just feel like I’ve been so overwhelmed recently. I have a lot of exciting things on my plate, but I need to figure out a way to balance it all. Lately I’ve been going to bed between 1 and 2 am, and waking up at 6:30am! So not healthy! For a girl who likes a solid 9-10 hours, my body is kind of hating me right now. I’m so incredibly happy to be back from New York though and I’m really needing this weekend to rejuvenate and feel a little better about things! I’m hoping to see some friends, spend a work-free day with Matthew, and make some time to catch up on sleep and reading. While I know it’s easy to look back on months and regret the things you didn’t do, these posts definitely help me remember that good things happened too. It’s important to celebrate the small things, because I’m lucky to have them! Here were some of my highlights from the tenth month of 2013:
  • Pinkberry date with Matthew! I went in to try the new Hot Chocolate flavor but had to default to the original!
  • Ginger and I started going on walks. I pulled a back muscle earlier this month so the walks are helping a lot!
  • Went in to T.J. Maxx for 1 candle and came out with 3!
  • Found the most adorable fox sweater from Old Navy
  • Traveled to New York City for a work trip! While the weather was slightly colder than expected, it was still beautiful and a nice change from warm LA!
  • Explored New York and hung out at Conde Nast for Lucky FABB!
  • Tried deep fried pizza at Don Antonio by Starita in NYC! SO good!
  • Framed these beautiful prints from Ashley Cooper Design since I’m finally putting together my office space after over a year in our apartment!
  • Pulled together a last minute costume of Wednesday Addams! Why have I never thought of this before?!

What were your highlights from October 2013?
