holiday gift guide for the woman

holiday 2014 gift guide for the girl via M Loves M @marmar
Putting this post together was a little bit too easy! Blame it on all my recent online shopping {sorry UPS and FedEx!}, but I’ve had so many cute things on my mind lately, long after shutting my laptop. I put together this holiday gift guide for the woman that’s basically the list I’m giving Matthew. I’m so helpful, right? 😉 From this pair of CRISP WHITE PJS that every girl needs, to a FEMININE CALENDAR WITH BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRATIONS, to this NEW SCENT that I am obsessed with, it’s all A+ my book! I’m especially loving pink things with this OVERSIZED CLUTCH and this STYLISH 2015 DAY JOURNAL. The journal comes in a bunch of other colors too, in case you feel like something over than pale pink.

If you’re looking for something for a guy, check out Matthew’s Gift Guide. Boys can be so difficult and I think he made it a lot easier!

Did you make a holiday wish list this year? What’s on it? I’d love to hear!

the holiday cardigan

fair isle cardigan with jeans via M Loves M @marmar
We talked about houndstooth on Monday, so I have to bring up another one of my favorite fall/winter prints today..fair isle! I love the unique stitching that always makes me think of this time of year. I incorporated the pattern into an everyday outfit for running errands {hello endless holiday shopping!} by pairing it with a turtleneck sweater {layering is key right now}, and a pair of dark wash jeans. Everyone needs a classic holiday sweater, and this one from Old Navy is it for me! The neutral colors of the sweater makes it easy to go with anything, and it also retains that classic heritage look that I love, without being over the top! This was a perfect weekend outfit for going to the grocery store and bracing the mall!

You guys might notice a little change..I got bangs! I shot some photos with them right after I got it done, realized they were a tad too long and got a trim a few days later. So you’ll just have to see a few outfits with the longer fringe. I wanted a little bit of a change so thought I’d try bangs again. They’re definitely a little more work but it will be fun for the holidays! And I’m excited to part them as they grow out {like the first image}.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by!

GUESS Holiday

December 5, 2014

Last month I had the fun opportunity to head to New York City for a few days. I went
to shoot a project with GUESS for their Holiday Collection, which was super
exciting. It was so fun to be in the city and then get all dolled up with some
other bloggers. While I’ve traveled a lot by myself, this was the first shoot
I’ve done that I’ve had to travel for so it felt extra special. I thought it
would have been fun if Matthew could have come to NYC with me, but since it was
such a short trip it didn’t seem worth it. Traveling by myself is something
I’ve done a few times for work and it always gives me this great feeling of
confidence and independence. I love taking the subway, walking around the busy
streets and figuring things out for myself. While I always miss Matthew, it is
a fun experience. And having a big King-sized bed all to yourself doesn’t hurt
either! I did have a first on this trip though, I went to a restaurant and had
myself a party-of-one dinner! I’ve never done that before but it was kind of cool.
I went to an Italian place that had a lot of good reviews, ordered a plate a
gnocchi with eggplant and mozzarella, a side Caprese, and a tall glass of water
{although wine would probably have been cooler!}. Then I tried to figure
out the record player in my hotel, watched some Friends episodes and HGTV and
jumped on the bed while blasting Taylor Swift. I mean, when in NYC right? Here
are the photos from my shoot with GUESS:

dress GUESS

One of my
favorite colors to wear during the holidays is an emerald green. There is
something about that color in particular that is so festive. While you can wear
red any time of year, emerald green is really made for the festive holiday
months. I picked this stunning, one-shoulder dress from GUESS for the shoot. I
don’t wear one shoulder dresses as often as I’d like but it’s another one of
those classic holiday styles. This dress has a feminine slit on the side and I
love the sparkle detail on the shoulder. It was so pretty! We shot at The Griffin, which
was a cool venue in the Meatpacking District. The lounge has an ambiance
inspired by the Industrial Revolution and the Gilded Age. The space is filled
with velvet tufted sofas, gilded tables, antiqued mirrors and herringbone
floors! The real statement piece is the ceiling that’s full of glitzy
chandeliers hanging from vaulted ceilings. It was pretty breathtaking and
totally makes you feel like you’re living back in the late 19th Century. This
shoot was such a wonderful experience and I loved being a part of it! The only
thing that could have made this shoot even more fun was if I was able to play
dress up in more of the dresses. GUESS has such
a good holiday collection right now so it was hard choosing just one to wear. This dress was another favorite, and I loved this draped dress, and also this metallic one! So pretty!!

Hope you have a great weekend everyone!
