get jumped

March 28, 2014
I had to be downtown last weekend in the evening so Matthew and I decided to make a date night out of it. Even though we live only 15 miles away from downtown LA, traffic can make it crazy to get there. We usually just stick on our side of the city so it was fun to venture out. I always love being downtown. The buildings are so tall, the streets get really empty in the evenings, and there are so many great restaurants. It also reminds me of a funny outfit post from 2010 when a bird landed on Matthew’s shoulder! That husband of mine is quite the animal whisperer!

favorite jumpsuits and playsuits
I am all about jumpsuits now that it’s a little warmer out. I think they’re fun to wear during the day, but especially at night, if the material is right. I love this striking blue one from Greylin. Unfortunately they’re sold out of the short version, but they do have a long one available. It also looks like there are a bunch of other blue rompers online. I love the combo of blue with black, so I added this black blazer. The purse was a bday gift from Matthew when we were dating, so I love any excuse to wear it! I like how the print of the bag stood out against my otherwise solid outfit.
What are you all up to this weekend? We’re celebrating my brother’s 25th bday which will be so fun and we have some friends that are in LA from out of town. I’m not sure what the weather will be like but I’m dying to spend a few hours outside. Maybe we’ll go on a run or hike with Ginger!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

the big fuzz

I got this purple sweater on sale earlier this month from Anthropologie. Unfortunately I can’t see it on their site anymore but you might luck out in the stores. I saw it there last week when I went to smell some pretty candles {one of my favorite reasons to stop in!}. This sweater from Topshop is similar and comes without the turtleneck. I loved the vibrancy of the purple paired with black and white. I’m in an extra girly mood recently so I added a bright statement necklace and some pointy toed pumps! I thought there might be too much going on if my hair was down and curled like usual so I just pulled it back into a pony {Matthew’s favorite hair style of mine funny enough!}

Shop Favorite Midis and Sweaters:
Yesterday I had a fun afternoon with Vanity Fair and Chobani! I stopped by the Social Club to refuel and then got a little pampering from Lancome. My nails were desperately in need of a little color touch up. They also made my eyes all pretty and smoky dramatic for last night’s event. It was a party celebrating American Hustle and they even had a disco floor as their red carpet. Amazing, right? I totally wanted to shimmy on down there in a jumpsuit and some crazy high platforms. While we didn’t see Batman or Bradley Cooper, we did see Amy Adams, David O.Russell {the director}, Elisabeth Rohm, and Adrien Grenier. It’s been so fun to attend these parties this week and get a little bit of the star treatment. I’ve loved hanging out with the Vanity Fair/VF Agenda teams, seeing some of my favorite actors, and making new blogger friends. I feel so lucky to have opportunities like these. A big part of it is because of you so thank you thank you! Thank you for coming here, following along, and supporting me. I appreciate it more than you’ll ever know!
Have a great weekend everyone!! I’m going to my last Vanity Fair party tonight and then tomorrow I’m heading up to the Bay Area for Matthew’s cousin’s wedding. {Does that mean it’s my cousin-in-law??}.
Happy Friday!

one and done

There’s something so incredibly easy and effortless about a one piece outfit. I got this jumpsuit for Fashion Week because it just made me think of a New York City girl running around the city, hailing cabs, dining at amazing restaurants, and having stories for days. I love an outfit that you can have an adventure in, even if it’s just for 8 hours!

How do you guys feel about jumpsuits? Would you wear them? I love this style because, even in silk, it has a relaxed, down to earth feel to it.
Have a great Wednesday everyone and thanks so much for stopping by!
