sunday brunch

August 20, 2013
I mentioned yesterday that Matthew and I have been out of town off and on for the past month. It’s been hard to find a second to just hang out and catch up that’s not on the other end of a phone. Since I had to leave early Sunday afternoon for a work trip, I decided to plan a special brunch for my favorite guy, with some help from Coppola Wines. Our yummy little feast was maybe a bit much for the two of us but, nevertheless, it was a perfectly indulgent Sunday morning. I’ll definitey be missing that boy all week long, and hoping there’s a slice of the lemon tart waiting at home for me!
The Sofia Minis are just too cute! Love that no glasses are necessary!
Tea Sandwiches with chive cream cheese and thinly sliced cucumbers. {Ended up taking half on the plane haha!}
Peach Orange Mango Mimosas with Sofia Blanc de Blanc!
Lemon Tarts are one of my favorite desserts to make. So easy and delicious! You have to try this recipe!
Lace and sequins seemed fitting for Sunday brunch!

Our Brunch Menu
to eat
Scrambled Eggs with feta and chives
Tea Sandwiches with chive cream cheese and cucumbers
Coffee Cake Muffins {this recipe is my favorite!}
Lemon Tart {love Ina’s recipe}
Lingonberry Scones
Fresh Strawberries
to drink
Peach Orange Mango Mimosas with Blanc de Blanc

So looking forward to being back in LA with Matthew next weekend. Both of us have been doing far too much traveling apart! I loved having this time, though, to catch up before seeing each other off on our respective trips.

happy birthday matthew

July 22, 2013

Today is Matthew’s birthday! I’m so sad we both have to work today since it would have been so fun to have the day off and celebrate. We did do a bit of celebrating this weekend but Matthew got a little bit of a cold/possible sinus infection on Friday night which prevented some of our plans. I told him that we’re still going to have his fun birthday weekend when he’s feeling 100% better. It was weird because the weather was kinda of off this weekend too. It was cloudy and overcast and even sprinkled. I have never ever seen rain in July, and Matthew said he’s never had less than perfect weather on his birthday. So maybe it was a sign that Matthew just needed to relax a little bit this weekend. He’s been working so hard and probably needed to rest.
Matthew, I love you more than anything and I am so incredibly grateful for your life. Thank you for being my husband, my confidant, my cheer leader, back up singer {and dancer!}, best friend and puppy daddy! You make me laugh like no one can, and you’re just as silly as I am. I thank God every day for bringing us together. Here’s to a fun new year ahead! I can’t wait to spend it with you!

desert days with ag

April 1, 2013
Music is a big part of my life. I know I don’t talk about it as much as I used to, but some of you remember all the shows Matthew and I would always go to on the weekends. It was a big part of our dating life, both in San Francisco and in LA. Matthew is very musically talented {he was even in a band!} so we pretty much listen to music all the time, and it’s always different types.  Seeing bands live is such a cool experience, for longtime fans and for new fans. It makes shows and festivals so much fun, too, because you’re surrounded by other music lovers as well! I teamed up with AG, one of Matthew’s and my all-time favorite jean brands, to show a music festival look. This is the kind of look I would usually wear and recommend. Read below for some styling tips to have you ready for the the music festival season!
lace peplum top c/o AG, denim button up c/o AG, jeans c/o AG, necklace Ruche, watch Ferel Watches, bracelets Karen London, House of Gemmes, sunglasses Karen Walker, boots ShoeMint
These printed legging jeans are comfortable and light, so they’ll be great to transition from warm days into the cooler desert nights. I love the unique print too because it’s versatile and so perfect for spring. I layered this pretty lace peplum tank with a denim button up because the weather in the desert is always changing. You never know what to expect. While you think it would always be sunny, many people were surprised when it rained one day last year at Coachella! A pair of sunnies is essential for a day under the hot desert sun and you can’t go wrong with a pair of booties. The most important thing about festival style is making sure you’re comfortable and I definitely think AG will have you covered!
Chic. Sophisticated. Classic.
