wedding wednesday: honeymoon plans!

March 9, 2011
Planning a wedding is fun and all, but I’m much more excited about the honeymoon! Matthew and I have been doing so much research figuring out where we wanted to go, and what the weather would be like in May {had to X out the Caribbean because of hurricane season}. Over the weekend we bit the bullet and bought our plane tickets! So I guess it’s official!! Can you guess where we’re going?
Yep, ITALY! I am seriously jumping up and down over here! I’ve never been but always dreamed of going. It’s such a beautiful and romantic country and being there with Matthew will be absolutely perfect. We’re already dying thinking about all the amazing food we’ll be eating. I’m expecting to gain 10 pounds at least! Don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ll get back and you’ll be like, “Whoa what happened to her?” A lot of pasta, pizza, and gelato, that’s what! I’m going to find myself a pasta mama and get her to teach me all her secrets! I’ll call her Nonna {grandma} and she’ll call me her dolce ragazza {sweet girl}! {Yeah, I’m pretty much planning the conversations in my head and everything}. We’re flying into Rome for a couple days and then we’re staying at a villa in Assisi, although we’ll be traveling throughout the country. oh.my.gosh it really hasn’t sunk in yet!
If any of you have been to Italy, or have friends/family who have been, please please pretty please send any and all recommendations over! We’d love to know the best places to stay, eat, shop, etc. It’s much more helpful when you have someone who has been there knows the insider secrets. I’ll love you forever and ever!

wedding wednesday: mother of the bride dresses

February 2, 2011

My mom and I are in the process of looking for her Mother of the Bride dress. I think it’s supposed to compliment the other dresses so I want it to be a light neutral. J. Crew has so many great dresses in lots of different colors, which is perfect. Here are some of the ones I like:

My mom thinks they are a little “too young” for her but I know she’d look gorgeous in any of these!
Do any of you have any recommendations on where to look for Mother of the Bride dresses?

wedding wednesday: wedding dresses

January 19, 2011
If you follow me on twitter you know the good news..I found my dress!!! I am super excited about this because I was cutting it a little close {cough major understatement}. Most places need at least 5 months to order the dress and then get alterations done. I really lucked out because I got a dress from a trunk show and the designer was there and decided to comp the rush fee.  woo hoo! I’ve decided I’m not going to share my wedding dress with you yet. I think it will have to remain one of those surprises! {Also, the photos online don’t do it justice at all!} I did decide to share some of my most favorite dresses. I loved each of these tremendously but they were also tremendously out of my budget! I just couldn’t justify getting into debt over a dress I’d wear for less than 12 hours. The one I chose is very budget friendly though, which is absolutely perfect. Here are my dream favorites:
 Rivini, Christos
 Christos, Reem Acra
Monique Lhuillier

Sigh, so gorgeous. I’ll be wearing each of these in my dreams.
Those engaged/married: How was your hunt for your wedding dress? Did you get “the one?”
