february highlights

March 4, 2014
February went by in a blur it seems. It was a month of some stressful travel, a huge life change, and one incredible opportunity. I always like to live in the moment but February was a month that had me thinking ahead… constantly! There are so many exciting things in the works and I have to remind myself to take it one day at a time. I’m really looking forward to March though. Settling into our house, getting little G back {she’s been staying with my parents through the travel and move}, and just getting back into our normal rhythm. All I want is to have a home cooked meal and know where all my clothes are. And also be completely caught up on emails. That’s the goal! Here are some highlights from the second month of 2014:
  • Drooled over everything in the latest J.Crew catalog..the pages might still be wet!
  • Spent time with my favorite person ever!
  • Took a trip to LACMA during the week! I needed an inspiration day!
  • Ate dinner at MB Post with my family and had the prettiest salad ever!
  • Spent two short days in NYC! Was there through snow, wind, and more snow!
  • Baked lavender scones for Matthew for Valentine’s Day
  • Played with my new Tory Burch lipstick!
  • Celebrated American Heart Month by wearing red. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths every year. It’s so important to get screened and eat healthy! {wearing my favorite red Tieks!}
  • Had so much fun with Vanity Fair celebrating pre-Oscars week. Loved hanging out with Jessica from Hapa Time! She is such a sweetie and I wish we lived closer!

What were your highlights from February 2014?

sunday brunch

August 20, 2013
I mentioned yesterday that Matthew and I have been out of town off and on for the past month. It’s been hard to find a second to just hang out and catch up that’s not on the other end of a phone. Since I had to leave early Sunday afternoon for a work trip, I decided to plan a special brunch for my favorite guy, with some help from Coppola Wines. Our yummy little feast was maybe a bit much for the two of us but, nevertheless, it was a perfectly indulgent Sunday morning. I’ll definitey be missing that boy all week long, and hoping there’s a slice of the lemon tart waiting at home for me!
The Sofia Minis are just too cute! Love that no glasses are necessary!
Tea Sandwiches with chive cream cheese and thinly sliced cucumbers. {Ended up taking half on the plane haha!}
Peach Orange Mango Mimosas with Sofia Blanc de Blanc!
Lemon Tarts are one of my favorite desserts to make. So easy and delicious! You have to try this recipe!
Lace and sequins seemed fitting for Sunday brunch!

Our Brunch Menu
to eat
Scrambled Eggs with feta and chives
Tea Sandwiches with chive cream cheese and cucumbers
Coffee Cake Muffins {this recipe is my favorite!}
Lemon Tart {love Ina’s recipe}
Lingonberry Scones
Fresh Strawberries
to drink
Peach Orange Mango Mimosas with Blanc de Blanc

So looking forward to being back in LA with Matthew next weekend. Both of us have been doing far too much traveling apart! I loved having this time, though, to catch up before seeing each other off on our respective trips.
