ice ice darling

I can’t get enough pretty lace dresses. This one from Maggy London is no exception in this ice blue/gray color! I love the scalloped edges and the feminine organza and lace details. It would be perfect to wear for a special occasion {like a wedding, an anniversary/birthday dinner,  or even Valentine’s Day}. It also might be the perfect Easter dress, but I know I’m getting ahead of myself!
dress c/o Maggy London {fit: I wear a Size 2}, coat Knitted Dove via Ruche {old}, heels J.Crew {new silver metallic style}, purse c/o Brahmin {love this cream color so much!!}, sunglasses Tom Ford {old but found on Amazon!}, earrings Bauble Bar, lipstick MAC Candy Yum Yum

How was your weekend everyone? Were you surprised by the Superbowl game? I have to admit it was a little lackluster. I was hoping for bigger and more crazy plays, but it was great to see the Seahawks win! I heard it’s been crazy in Seattle, which I guess is to be expected. It’s been a long time coming!
Have a great Monday everyone!!

While Matthew and I aren’t hardcore sports addicts, we both look forward to the Superbowl. I’m especially excited that my Seattle Seahawks are playing! I went to school in Seattle for two years, so I have a special connection with the Seahawks. Some of our favorite parts of Superbowl Sunday are the chips and dip, hilarious commercials, and the excitement of rooting for our teams. Dressing sporty for the Superbowl is always a must too! Matthew and I have our fair share of sneakers and stripes, so I thought it would be fun to style a Hers & His post, sporty style. Although, with the heels, I’m a little more Ginger than Sporty Spice! haha!
and one more because I just love this guy and his smile!

Ok, so now two important questions..1) which team are you rooting for on Sunday {don’t worry I don’t judge!}, and 2) which Spice Girl is your favorite?

Hi my name is Mara {pronounced MAR-ah, as opposed to MER-ah}. Welcome to my blog! I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and live here now, although I lived in Seattle and then the Bay Area during college. I love baking, thrifting, reading, crafting, creating, writing and dreaming. I’m a puppy mama, a wife, and a blogger.

Some background on the blog:
Matthew and I met while I was in school in the Bay Area. When I graduated I moved back to Los Angeles and Matthew and I kept up a long distance relationship. I started this blog in August 2009 as a way to keep to close to Matthew. A couple months later he moved down to LA, and right down the street!  This blog became a way of documenting our fun trips and adventures. Matthew and I got engaged in September 2010 and were married in May 2011. You can see photos of our wedding here.
I’ve always been interested in fashion and design. When I was little I wanted to be a fashion designer until I realized I couldn’t sew! I’ve come to appreciate fashion as a form of expression, and my look book forces me to be more creative with my clothes and sense of style. I used to work as a buyer and stylist for an online boutique, and now I do marketing for a shoe brand. I love working and learning in the fashion industry.
I have a major sweet tooth {like “chocolate a day keeps the doctor away” status}, and therefore I love baking. You can see some of my favorite recipes here.

Matthew and I adopted a puppy in 2010 named Ginger. She has the funniest personality and you’d never guess that her mom was a poodle. She’s about 25 pounds, has a ton of energy, and yet is the sweeted and most calm little pup. We’re pretty sure the dad was a terrier/retriever/shepherd mix. She’s our cute little GiGi Bear! You can see her #GingertheFluffyDoodle feed on Instagram too!

This community has introduced me to some very wonderful people and it’s helped me grow so much as a person. For that, I am so grateful! Thank you for visiting!
