look book: funny valentine

February 15, 2011
Last night was such a comedy of errors. Poor Matthew has  had it up to here {imagine my hands really high} with his terrible commute. He lives 20 miles from work and yet it takes him close to an hour and a half some nights. Last night it took him a little over two hours, the worst drive for him by far! We were supposed to have dinner at 7 and he didn’t even get back until 8. Poor guy. We ordered pizza and it was really good, although slightly burnt {it’s sad they’d allow a subpar pie to pass through on Valentine’s Day of all nights}. After dinner we decided to finish Roman Holiday {we started it on Saturday night} and somehow when we sat down on the couch I elbowed Matthew in the jaw. Major ouch! While it was still a good night, it was just a bit ridiculous. I hope your Valentine’s Day was a little bit more normal than ours.
blouse and clutch Banana Republic, skirt Zara, heels Michael Kors, headband In Honor of Design
So I broke my self-imposed shopping ban. I know, I know, I tried so hard but when I saw this skirt for $10 I had to get it! Especially since that morning I was going to ask my mom if she had a brown pleated skirt. Meant to be? I’d like to think so! I was tempted to get it in the black color also, but I put my foot down. I’m still trying to make more conscientious shopping decisions.
I hope you all have a really great day!

look book: coral craze

February 11, 2011
I’m going to let you all in on a little secret, if I can even call it that. I haven’t gone shopping since last year! Crazy, right? I didn’t mean to put myself on a shopping hiatus but it kind of just happened.  I know it’s only February but that’s forty-one whole days! And I actually might not have shopped for myself the last few weeks in December because of the holidays. So this is kind of an amazing thing! I’m telling you this now, though, because I’m afraid I can’t hold out much longer. I’m going to try though! I’ve been wearing clothes I haven’t worn in a while and gasp ones that still have tags on them! This dress may or may not have had tags on it for three months. What can I say, it’s hard to abandon the favorites.
dress Urban Outfitters, sweater J. Crew, shoes Steve Madden, necklace IHOD Coral Craze
You may know Anna from her incredible design blog In Honor of Design, but did you also know she’s also an accessory designer? Well, she is. And she’s an amazing one at that! I’m so excited because over the next few weeks I’m going to be featuring her beautiful pieces in outfit posts. This coral necklace is my absolute favorite! I love the color {of course!} and how it perfectly dresses up an outfit. You’ll see it again and again, trust me!
What are your plans for the weekend?
Matthew and I are celebrating Valentine’s Day Saturday night, seeing my little cousins from out of town, checking out another bakery {mmm cake}, catching up on blogs, and hopefully sleeping in!

I’d Wear That: Golden Globes 2011

January 18, 2011
I realized last night when I was watching the Golden Globes that I did a post like this last year, so I figured I’d do it again! Here are some of my favorite dresses from the red carpet.
Anne Hathaway in Armani Privé, Claire Danes {and Hugh Dancy} in Calvin Klein Collection, Angelina Jolie in Versace
my least favorite:
Michelle Williams in Valentino, Natalie Portman in Viktor & Rolf, Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood

Surprised that I included my favorite Natalie Portman in the least dressed category? Me too. I think she’s so beautiful but that dress and shoes and clutch it just way too Valentine’s Day. I don’t know if she was thinking the rose would distract from her baby bump, but I pretty much hated it. I’ve seen so many more beautiful dresses on her in the past. Michelle William’s dress seemed ill-fitted for the red carpet. It seems too casual, and it’s also wrinkly! As for Helena Bonham Carter… no words.
What did you guys think about the fashion at the Golden Globes? I think I liked the dresses more last year. And it was raining, remember? Did you think Ricky Gervais went a little too far with his jokes? Apparently the Hollywood Foreign Press isn’t inviting him back next year.
