Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all are having a great weekend! Did any of you do my wellness challenge last week? Let’s discuss! And I have a new one for the week ahead!!

Recap: Wellness Challenge No. 1 Drink 16 oz of water first thing in the morning

How did this go for you guys? I did it every day and noticed that it filled me up more quickly. Usually, I make breakfast and drink my coffee within 20 minutes of waking up each morning, but when I was drinking the 16oz of water I sometimes wasn’t hungry until 30 minutes later. I also felt like drinking the water kept me more regular and helped flush out those toxins from the previous night. There were a few days where I was like “Geez this is a lot of water,” but I had to remind myself that I didn’t need to chug it all at once. Drinking water first thing in the morning is something I’m definitely going to try to make a habit, though. Water is so refreshing, especially after not having any all night. If I can reach for water first thing, instead of dehydrating myself further with coffee, that has to be good for my health. What did you think about it? Is this a habit you’d stick with?

My next challenge is definitely a little more daunting, but I think it’s a good one. The Wellness Challenge No. 2 is to stop using your phone past 8 pm at night! Ah! Just typing that makes me a little nervous. I don’t know if I can do it but I’m definitely going to try. I feel like my nights are my special time with Matthew after the baby goes to sleep. We’re able to eat dinner and catch up one to one. If I can put my phone away I think that would be healthy not only for our relationship as a couple but also for me personally. If I’m not on my phone, maybe I’ll be reading a book, watching a TV show, or listening to a podcast. Of course, I might still have nights where I need to work on my laptop, but if I take away the distraction of my phone, perhaps I’ll get more done. Also, for health purposes, it’s important to limit screen time before bed. I haven’t had too many issues falling asleep lately since I’ve been diffusing oils in our room, but I do think the screen time is activating towards our brains. This is going to be a challenge for me but I’m determined to give it a try!

  • I totally missed last week’s challenge! Does this mean I start drinking water this week, and then skip the phone challenge to go right to week three? LOL!

  • I’m already a good water drinker so last week was an easy challenge for me… but this one Mara!! Definitely a hard one, it’s a very important one though so i’ll give it my best shot but i know myself to well and i know my limits! 😉

    • Hi Melodie, I can totally relate to that as I know my limits as well haha. I’ve started this and I can tell you it has been hard but very rewarding at the same time.

    8 seems waaayyy to early for me, but then again, I don’t typically go to bed before midnight. I typically aim for no phone time past 10pm.

    • Hi Tiffany, I know how you feel especially since having Augustine it has been hard but I have found this challenge rewarding and very beneficial.

  • I will be joining along, although might need to move it up to 7pm when the baby goes down because I don’t last too much longer than 8pm these days.

    • Hi Courtney, I am right there with you haha. It is very rewarding after to just unwind and relax and not have to worry about anything till morning.

    This one really speaks to me! I always try to limit (or totally forgo) phone time when I get into bed at night. Sometimes I tell myself that I’ll only spend a few minutes looking on Facebook, Instagram, or Pinterest, but 1/2 hour later I’m still on my phone! It’s really bad…especially since I LOVE to read and have so many new books I could be diving into. And I’ve totally heard about how it’s harder to fall asleep after staring at a screen – from experience, I notice a significant difference when I’m on my phone before bed as opposed to reading. Considering I have to wake up at 5:15 every morning, I need all the zzz’s I can get! Thanks for making me aware of this again – I will join you for this week’s challenge!

    • I know me too I always try to limit myself to only a few minutes at night but you’re so right it so hard haha!!

  • This is such a good challenge. For me it’s not only my phone but just watching TV! On nights I tell myself “no TV” I am so much more productive. Reading books that I haven’t finished, playing a game with my husband, or even taking a bath which I rarely do! I may try not using my phone after 8 first and then add in no TV as well!

    I am totally going to do this but a little different, late at night is when I write the most and put my social media links up. So instead I am going to cut out my netflix time!
