adventures in austin, texas

Austin, Texas has always been one of those cities on my Must Visit list, especially, after traveling to Dallas earlier this year. I’ve heard Austin compared to San Francisco and Seattle so I couldn’t wait to check it out for myself. The weather was definitely not something I was used to, though. I’m used to California sunshine but not Texas heat, or Texas humidity. Despite that adjustment, I fell in love with the city. From the sweetest people, to the delicious food, and the boot shops on almost every corner, it’s a city I could definitely see myself spending more time in. Hopefully next time Matthew can tag along too because I know he’d love it. Maybe we’ll just plan a trip in Spring, or late Fall!
 how cute are those short brown boots with the embroidered flowers?
 Donuts from Gourdoughs! We got The Puddin’ and Black Out. Soo good!
Turbo Iced Coffee from Jo’s! Just the caffeine kick we needed!
Since this was a work trip I didn’t have too much time to explore, except for Sunday afternoon. There were so many places recommended to me, that I’ve saved to a list for the next trip. Here is where we did go though:
Favorite Spots in Austin

Casual Lunch Spots: Elizabeth Street Cafe {griddled lemongrass tofu and mushroom bánh mì was so good!}, Guero’s Taco Bar {tacos and fajitas!}

Restaurants: La Condesa {we went here our first night and it was soo good! Guacamole and salsa tasting is a must, as are their ceviches and street style corn!}
Specialty Foods: Gourdoughs for their donuts {they have the coolest vintage Airstream trailer. Loved The Puddin’ and Black Out}, Jo’s Coffee (the Turbo Iced came highly recommended}
Things to Do: shopping on South Congress {so many cute vintage and antique shops. I found some cute little treasures at Uncommon Goods!}, shopping in the 2nd Street District {over 50 mostly locally owned shops}, watch the bats fly from under the Congress Avenue bridge every evening at Sunset {you can read more about it here}
Have any of you been to Austin, or live there? Any tips/recommendations for my next trip?
I was so grateful for these recommendations from the locals!
