Neapolitan Nail Art DIY

I feel like my nails have been dressed in red for the past month or so, and therefore I’ve been craving a lighter manicure. I always seem to crave the opposite of what my nails were. i.e. after black, I want nude, and after cream I want red! I love the trend of larger tipped nails, and when I saw this gold stripping tape I thought it would be the perfect accent to separate the colors. After I did my nails I realized they resembled one of my favorite desserts: ice cream Neapolitan. There is a resemblance to Chocolate, Strawberry and Pistachio, don’t you think?

Step 1: Paint nails 1 color. I decided on a lighter pink shade. Let dry.

Step 2: Apply Blue Painters Tape to hide the sections you want to remain the base color.

Step 3: Apply contrasting colors to exposed nails. I chose this brownish-purple shade by Sally Hansen for my pinkie, middle and index fingers, and this mint green for my ring finger and thumb. Let dry and remove painters tape. (Colors were Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic and Jaded)

Step 4: Apply gold stripping take to nails and cut to fit.

Step 5: Coat nails in clear top coat. Let dry and tada! Pretty nails!

I’m really happy with how my nails turned out! Someone at work thought that I had actually gotten them done professionally {holy compliment!}. I’m excited to find new ways to experiment with the gold stripping tape! The possibilities are endless!
