One of the reasons why I’m always late to get out the door with Matthew on our date nights is because I’m frantically searching for things I need to put in my clutch. I hate bringing my big bags on date nights because they’re kind of bulky and if I hang them on my chair it’s usually always bumped by people walking by. I prefer to bring something a little lighter and easier to carry around. The thing is, I can’t bring all the items I’d normally have in my bag. I’m looking at you overstuffed wallet, planner and sunglasses! I put this post together with 10 date night must haves! These items would also work for a girls night too!
slim card case: Note to self: don’t bring your everyday wallet! It adds the majority of the weight to your bag and has cards and receipts that you most likely don’t need. I prefer bringing a slim card case that will hold my ID, debit card/credit card, and a little spot for cash. Always bring an emergency $10 or $20 with you! Not finding parking and having to go to the ATM before you valet is so annoying and will probably make you late and frazzled.
Tangle Teezer: I have two Tangle Teezers. One I use after I shower and one I travel with in my bag. Since getting bangs, I feel like my hair can get all over the place very easily. This Tangle Teezer is great for getting rid of knots but also smoothing my hair out.
fresh breath spray: Don’t be stuck with gum in your mouth! A mint or spray is a lot easier and gets the job done faster!
rollerball perfume: I’ve talked about it before, but Tory Burch’s perfume is one of my favorites. I love the citrus smell! I got this rollerball perfume which is perfect for freshening up.
blotting papers: Does you face get oily too? Hot, crowded restaurants, spicy foods, and being too close to the kitchen makes my face embarrassingly shiny. I always bring along these blotting tissues to dab the oil away. Bonus: it smells like roses!
lipstick: This MAC lipstick in Overtime is one of my favorites. I actually wore it on our wedding day so it’s a special choice for date nights! The lipstick is from MAC’s long-wear collection so it should stay on for hours but I’ll still bring it with me just in case.
all-over shimmer powder: I love this compact for two reasons. 1. The shimmer is pretty to dust on your cheekbones for a fresh, radiant glow. 2. the mirror will come in handy for checking if you have food in your teeth, straightening out your bangs, and making sure your lipstick is in place.
barrette: The worst thing is walking into the bathroom and realizing you hate the way your hair looks. Maybe it’s flat, or the curls completely fell out, but either way you’ll be happy to have a barrette so you can put it back easily.
clutch: make sure you pick a bag that will hold all the essentials but that’s not be too heavy! I love this one which works over your shoulder or held in your hand.
good attitude: Cheesy but true! Try your hardest to leave your work-week and life stresses behind on a date night. Go on a date ready to enjoy the food and company. Also, if you can refrain from looking at your phone your date will be very happy. Matthew and I have a no-phone rule on date nights and it’s really beneficial. We’re able to enjoy each others company without checking emails, responding to texts, or going on Instagram. Remember, you can take a photo but post it afterwards!
