When I think about defining California style, I usually call it “dressed up casual.” In LA especially, you can easily get away with wearing the above outfit to work, or meetings, depending on your industry. When I worked in publishing and then fashion, this outfit would even be dressed up compared to some of the outfits my coworkers wore. I personally would probably not choose a pair of distressed jeans for work, but for the weekend it’s perfect! California style is all about versatility so having an outfit that you can wear during the workweek, and on the weekends, is crucial. You want to make sure you can stretch those dollars! Defining California style as dressed up casual means there are some articles of clothing that are dressed up and others that are more casual. Take my outfit for instance. The casual pieces include a pair of distressed blue jeans and a slouchy bag. The dressed up pieces are a flowy chiffon tank, a tweed jacket, and a pair of heels. The fact that they’re sandal heels makes them a good hybrid of both dressy and casual. When in doubt, add a pair of heels to a casual outfit and you got yourself a California style outfit!
I love this pretty feminine blouse! The floral pattern is great for spring, but there are also a ton of solid color options as well! I paired this outfit with some distressed jeans {love this non-maternity version!} and my new go-to pair of sandal heels {last worn here}. I love the slight platform on the shoes and how this style goes with everything because of the neutral brown color!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! Matthew and I had a fun little one night staycation at Terranea and it was so nice. I took a full moon yoga class on Saturday evening and then we had an incredible dinner at mar’sel complete with the best s’mores dessert! I love that we have this great little getaway that’s not too far from home.
