a missoni-inspired striped knit dress that's light enough for spring

Happy Monday everyone! This past week in LA we’ve gotten some rainy days. Just when I thought we were done with our El Niño! , we get a stormy surprise! I haven’t been able to fit into my jeans these days so unfortunately I couldn’t style this rain jacket like I did last time, but I thought a dress would be a nice change. This striped knit dress is incredibly comfortable and while it’s not maternity, it’s definitely bump friendly! Lately I’ve been on the hunt for pieces that are a little more snug on top and this one fits the bill perfectly. I love the Missoni-inspired look, with the colorful stripes! The dress is lightweight, and short sleeved, so I think I’d even be able to wear it when it’s a little warmer outside. Despite the rain, I know our typical heat waves are coming!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend! I was tied up all day on Saturday with the Create & Cultivate conference but decided to plan a Sunday Mother’s Day lunch for my mom, dad, and brother. I planned my menu on Saturday night, went grocery shopping early Sunday morning, and then cooked until they arrived in the afternoon with major help from Matthew and my brother. I know we could have gone out somewhere but I really wanted to make something special and plus it was a fun challenge!  Luckily everything pretty much turned out. I was hoping to take some photos but of course I totally forgot between last minute tidying and cutting bread for the cheese plate. My biggest tip for putting together a last minute party {besides having extra sets of helping hands!} is to make dishes that are ok to sit out at room temperature. I made a veggie soup that just needed to be reheated, plus a zucchini noodle pesto pasta, curried couscous dish, and a kale salad. I’m excited to have some of the leftovers today, like the blueberry crumb cake for breakfast! So yummy!!

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Thanks so much for stopping by!
