One thing I’ve always struggled with, even before baby, was finding balance. I feel like it can be so overwhelming when you feel like you have a million and one things on your plate. My problem is that I’m always trying to do it all, from working, blogging, being a good wife, friend, daughter. And that doesn’t even take into account the things I just want to do for me, namely sit on the couch and watch episode after episode of Friends or Gilmore Girls. I feel like finding balance is something we all struggle with.
During summer vacations growing up I wanted to fill my days with as many fun things as possible. I remember making a schedule for me and my brother to follow. It closely resembled a school schedule with chunks of time devoted to different things. Except there were no breaks because everything we were doing was fun. Or at least I thought it was fun! We had time slots designated for reading, playing outside, cooking, crafting, writing letters, and even cleaning. Oh my poor brother! He put up with it for a day I think.
Since I’ve been out of school for several years, I’ve forgotten how beneficial a schedule like that can be. While it’s not for everyone, I do feel like there’s something to be gained from concentrated blocks of time devoted to specific tasks. During my current stage of life, my days revolve around Augustine’s nap and feeding times. We don’t really have him on a schedule but we try to pay attention to cues. When he’s down for a nap it can be so overwhelming for me to figure out what to do first. There’s the most important things like washing my face, getting dressed, making a meal for myself, but then I also have emails to respond to, posts to write, a house to clean, dinner to prepare for, etc. It can be a lot and if you’re like me you get crippled by just the idea of all that needs to be done.
Lately I’ve been making these daily To Do lists. I write down everything I need to do the night before, in order of importance, so that the next day I know exactly where to start. Once my most pressing tasks are done, I can move on to the next one on my list. Making these lists has been really helpful in keeping me on track and focused. I feel like otherwise I would get caught up with responding to an email that’s not very important, or scrolling mindlessly through Instagram.
I know as Augustine gets bigger his needs will change and my free time will be cut down, making my To Do lists even more important. I don’t know if I’ll ever get everything on my list done, but I hope to not let the stress get to me. Do you have any tips for finding balance? Your secrets would be very much appreciated!

This outfit reminds me of one I wore over the summer! Maybe because the tops are the exact same shade of pink. This outfit is definitely not a typical fall look but it works for the weather we’ve been having in Los Angeles lately. I love that this blouse looks good styled casually but it could also be dressed up because of the ruffled hem and sleeves. It also comes in a bunch of other colors. I’m so tempted to get it in the black too!
If you didn’t see our holiday cards {that was one task I was on top of!} check them out! I can’t wait to send them out in a few weeks!
