Is it just me or are guys extremely hard to shop for? I always have trouble picking out the perfect gift for Matthew, my Dad and my brother. I asked Matthew for help on this Holiday Gift Guide for the Guy and he totally knocked it out of the park! Here are some of his favorite products, and why they’d make the perfect gift for the men in your life.

from Matthew:

Hello again, and happy holidays to you all!  I spent some time looking for gifts that are Matt-approved, aka things that I would actually buy for myself, and here they are.  I chose a cardigan because cardigans are my favorite type of sweater – they can be dressed up or down which is nice. I find myself going back to these year after year (I always forget to buy an old corn cob pipe to accompany them though!). A pair of Vans are classic and I’m sure the man in your life will always appreciate a clean pair of kicks.

Premium ear buds are a luxury and Bose are top of the line. If your dude likes to hit the gym or just listen to some music in peace, these are highly recommended. A good henley, beanie, and sport coat are all kinda winter essentials so I don’t need to say much more on those.

Most guys don’t appreciate Ugg boots (often because they are too young)- they don’t remember them as being extremely comforting to feet after a cold winter surf session, or just extremely pragmatic solutions for winter footwear. They only remember the early 2000s when they were paired with a pink velvet track suit that said Juicy on the butt.  Oh well. Moving on.

I have a beard and I recommend beard oil from a solid brand. If your guy shaves, you’re lucky. If he’s lazy like me, hook him up with a nice beard oil to tame that mane. And beard oil just feels nice.

I absolutely love a good camp-style mug. The metal ones sometimes zing my mouth and I’m more a fan of the ceramic mugs that make you feel like you’re camping (for home use obvi).

Lastly, buy a book that will give him skills, like how to survive in dire situations. If he wouldn’t like something like that (or at least appreciate that you’re thinking about your need to survive the inevitable zombie apocalypse), break up with him. Kidding…sort of.  Thanks again and take care friends.

Oh silly Matthew! He had a little too much fun with this one and is now wanting a regular blog feature. He says he will offer dating advice if ever you need it. He actually gives really good relationship advice though. Some of my friends will want to just hear from him because he tells it like it is. Anyways, hopefully this holiday gift guide for the guy helps you out this holiday season. I feel like I have a good list of what Matthew wants now! Hallelujah!
