New Year, New Bedroom - M Loves M

Yes, it’s almost March and I’m talking about my New Year, New Bedroom! When we moved into our house a few years ago, though, we didn’t really do anything to our bedroom. We used mostly all the same furniture that we had in our apartment. At the end of last year, I was able to convince Matthew that some new things in the bedroom might be a good idea. He must have been on a high from all the baby cuddles over the holidays! But to be honest, I think he realized it was time to freshen things up a bit. I don’t spend as much time sleeping in here these days {#newbornlife}, but during the daytime, this room is my happy place. I’m so thrilled with how the room turned out and I can’t wait to share the photos with you!

I started to plan our bedroom makeover as soon as I saw this headboard at Candelabra. The color was perfect! You all might have noticed I have a thing for blues in our house. It’s my favorite color to decorate with. It’s always so calming and Matthew likes it too which is equally important. I felt like the hazy blue color was a welcome change to the beige headboard we had. There’s nothing wrong with beige, but I felt like I wanted to perk the room up a bit, and the headboard instantly helped! It’s crazy how one change can make such a huge difference. But of course, I couldn’t stop there…

I decided to get this headboard but, after doing so, I realized I needed new lighting. It was the whole “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” situation. But to be fair, the lamps we had in this room were blue too, and the color didn’t quite look right with the headboard. I decided to relocate our old lamps to another room in the house so that I could bring in these glass table lamps from Lulu & Georgia. I’ve been loving clear lamps for awhile now, and these were perfect. The glass has a bubbled look that makes it a little more unique too!

I was so incredibly excited to get these nightstands! I actually got them on a Friends and Family Sale so that helped significantly with the cost. They were still a little expensive but after having ones from IKEA that had drawers falling in, I was ready for a quality upgrade. Also, I loved this style because the drawers can fit pjs, socks and other clothing, which is really helpful since our closet space is limited in this room.

We got this bedding from Crane & Canopy at the end of the year and I love the thick gray border on the duvet with the scalloped trim on the top sheet. It’s my favorite little detail! I added these gorgeous pillows from Caitlin Wilson to the bed. How I got away with this print is a miracle! So thankful for a husband who really doesn’t mind a floral print. The florals look so good with the gray striped lumbar, too. Florals + stripes are my favorite prints to mix- for outfits too!

I’ve had some credit to Minted so I was so excited to find two really beautiful prints. Minted has such good art, you guys! If you haven’t checked out their site, you really must. We have two of their prints in our sitting room too and we always get a ton of compliments on them. They have tons of options and all really reasonably priced! I chose this abstract print for my bedside table, and Matthew loved this print for his.

I’m so happy with how this room turned out! It was kind of the final room to be finished unless we do the kitchen and bathrooms, which seems like too big of an undertaking for right now. The living room, dining room, and entryway are done, my office is done, and of course the nursery is done. Maybe we’ll work on finally getting the backyard together for spring and summer, though. That’s an area that has definitely been neglected!
