Growing up in California, I didn’t really realize how much my location affected the way I dressed until I moved to Washington State. During my first week in Seattle, I saw the sun and immediately chose a pair of sandals, only to quickly run back into my apartment and change. Sun doesn’t always mean warmth, as I quickly learned! For a few years, I traded my sundresses for casual jeans outfits with hoodies and rain jackets. I’ve continued to notice how my current home affects the way I dress, from my time in Washington, the Bay Area, and now being back in Southern California. For the past 6 years, I’ve been living by the beach and that coastal environment has greatly changed the way I shop and pick my outfits. I tend to lean towards blues and whites, breezy pieces, and dresses that can be dressed up or down. Basically summer-wear at its finest!
When Macy’s came to town the other week and wanted to shoot, we decided to have a fun afternoon in my own backyard. I loved styling pieces from Macy’s designer brands and showing how they work for my life in Manhattan Beach. All these pieces are perfect for easy summer days, whether you’re at home or vacationing somewhere tropical! Here are some photos and a fun video from my day in Manhattan Beach with Macy’s.
The outfits we picked were from Macy’s designer collection. The line has a bunch of incredible designer brands with classic yet chic silhouettes. Those qualities are always my fave! Trends are fun for awhile, but timeless pieces make much more sense for me.
I especially loved putting together head to toe looks from Vince Camuto and Calvin Klein. I loved that I could mix and match pieces from the collections and still end up with a polished look. We created this fun video and I love seeing the pieces in action. My outfit shoots are usually just still photos but I think it helps to be able to see the movement of an outfit. Don’t you agree?

I’d love to know if where you live has changed the way you dress! Sometimes I wonder what I would dress like if I lived in New York. I know a lot of New Yorkers wear all black. Maybe I’d wear more black, but I don’t think I could give up on my blues, whites, stripes and florals! I’ll always be a California girl in that regard!
