June Beauty and Thoughts About May Products

Another month, another beauty post! I’ve been doing these monthly beauty reviews since January and I have to say they’re one of the posts I most look forward to. I incorporate new products each month, sometimes carrying ones over from previous months, and share how I’ve liked using them. I always want to give you my honest thoughts about everything I feature but keep in mind that some products that work or don’t work for me might do the opposite for you. I just want to share my personal experience, especially if it’s a product you’ve been thinking about. Here is my June Beauty Post {including some makeup by the way!}, and my thoughts about the May products I tried.

JUNE BEAUTY PICKS

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Youthful-Look 24H Foundation SPF 25

I’ve been looking for a lighter foundation to wear in summer and I’ve heard such good things about this one from Marc Jacobs Beauty. I love that it’s oil-free and has buildable coverage. It’s been tested for 24 hours of long-wear {perfect for summer days}, and it also contains a first-to-market technology that encapsulates the SPF in pigment. This means that the SPF is visibly undetectable so there’s no flashback or ashy color in photos. I’m so curious to test this out because I always can tell when I have SPF on in my photos. Is that weird?! haha!

Kenra Professional Platinum Dry Texture Spray 6

A dry texture spray is such a great product to use for undone waves. I’m trying to simplify my hair routine a bit and love the idea of just adding a dry texture spray. I keep trying to get that effortless look, ya know?  This product is not only supposed to give texture but volume as well. Plus, it will absorb oils, like a dry shampoo, and it will give hold for 48 hours. Testing this one out asap!

Philosophy Renewed Hope in A Jar Refreshing & Refining Moisturizer

I’m needing a new daytime moisturizer because even though I liked the one I tried from Mary Kay last month I felt like it was a little too thick for me. I’m planning on revisiting that one in fall/winter. I’ve had a few friends recommend this one from Philosophy, though,  even an esthetician. This moisturizer is supposed to refine texture for visibly smaller pores and smooth the appearance of fine lines. There are also some fruit extracts that help support natural microcirculation. I’ll keep you posted!

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

While I always use a cleaner, sometimes I really like to use a cleansing balm first, on dry skin, to remove all my makeup. This product is supposed to go from balm to oil to milk to get rid of every little bit of eye and face makeup.  It has the BEST reviews and I can’t wait to put it to the test this month.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Full Strength Exfoliating Mask

I’ve been wanting to try an at-home peel so I thought I’d try this one from Juice Beauty. It’s one of their most popular products because it gives spa-level exfoliation, revealing a more radiant complexion. It also reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Since my skin tends to get a lot of pigmentation, especially from acne scars, I’m really looking forward to incorporating this product into my routine. FYI: this product isn’t for people with sensitive or rosacea skin because of the alpha/beta hydroxy fruit acids.

MAY RECAP

T3 Cura Luxe Hair Dryer

I’ve been needing a new hair dryer so I was so excited to try this one. I think one of the most impressive features is that it has an auto pause, so you can put it down and it will pause while you adjust your brush positioning. Then, when you pick it back up, the dryer will turn back on. Genius! I will say that I feel like my hair didn’t try as quickly as I would like. My hair is fairly thick though. I did love how soft and smooth my hair looked afterward. I felt like I had a professional blowout, but in the comfort of my own home!

ARCONA Four O’Clock Flower Gentle Cleansing Cream

I really loved this cleanser. A little bit goes a long way which I love and it does a great job removing makeup, unlike some of the recent cleansers I’ve used. I read that the four o’clock flower extract it contains calms and reduces the appearance of redness, and I will say that my skin looked much less red this month. There’s also green tea and chamomile extracts, as well as seaweed and hyaluronic acid, French clay and moringa seed extract. My skin feels so soft, hydrated and CLEAN after using this cleanser!

Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner

Really loved this toner!  It has glycolic acid and grapefruit extract which help exfoliate, refresh and stimulate dry, acne-prone skin. My skin is dry/combination right now, so I will say if you’re oily this might not be the right product for you. But I really liked it because I felt like it helped get rid of build up, as well as some of my post-acne pigmentation. Also, I appreciate that it’s alcohol-free!

NuFACE Trinity Facial Toning Device

Such an interesting product! This is one you want to use daily to notice results. I did the left side of my face first, and then the right to compare. Since I didn’t feel anything at first, I wasn’t sure if I was going to notice a difference but there was definitely a firming and tightening effect, especially around my cheekbones. At the end of the month, I felt like my skin looked a lot more glowy and youthful too. I think with continued use this product would help highlight certain areas of the face and prevent them from looking too droopy. It’s expensive but I think it can be really helpful for anti-aging, if you’re interested in that sort of thing. The reviews speak for themselves too. Seriously, you have to read them!

Lancôme Advanced Genifique Youth Activating Serum

I’m always a fan of Lancome products! I love trying their samples when I buy my go-to face powder, and this serum was one I knew I needed to get in a full-sized version. I think I’ve definitely found my new face serum. I use this at night, although you can use it in the mornings as well. I like how quickly it’s absorbed and how it’s not too thick/thin. I’ve noticed that my skin looks a lot brighter, which could be a combo of some of the other products, but so far I’m a big fan! I’m excited to continue using this over the next few months. By the way, still using the Truth Serum during the day {a little goes a long way bc I’ve been using this since March!}, and I still like it. I just wish it absorbed a little bit better.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Would love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products, or if there are any others that you’re interested in!
