How many weddings are you all going to this summer? 1? 2? 5?! Can you believe this is the first year that I have no plans to attend a wedding at all?! At least as of right now. In one way it feels like a relief, because I remember those summers of weddings almost every other weekend. They’re so fun but, boy are they exhausting. Not to mention expensive! One of the biggest challenges with summer weddings is finding an appropriate dress to wear. You all loved last year’s post about what to wear to a fall wedding, so I thought today I’d share what to wear to a summer wedding. I have 3 tips when it comes to choosing what to wear, plus some gorgeous wedding guest dresses I hope you’ll love as well! This light blue lace dress is one of my favorite options!

3 Tips for Wedding Guest Dresses

1. Think About Length – You don’t want a dress that’s too short when you dive for the bouquet, and you don’t want a dress that’s so long you can’t dance. I’m a huge fan of midi-length dresses, especially for weddings, because they’re the perfect in-between choice! They also dress things up a bit and feel more formal, even for the most casual beachside wedding. Shopbop has so many cute midi-length options to choose from!

2. Pick a Neutral Color – If you’re a wedding guest, I think it’s nice to wear a neutral-colored outfit so that you blend in with everyone else. This is one case where you might not want to wear that neon yellow frock. I always think about when the bride looks at her wedding photos, or even out at her guests during the ceremony/reception. She might not want to see the one bold dress that sticks out like an eyesore. I’m all for wearing what you want, and not thinking too much about other people’s opinions, but this is one case where I feel like a neutral choice might be the most appreciated one. I love light blue right now because I feel like it’s not as common as blush. You’ll still stand out, but in a subtle way. Club Monaco always has a lot of great neutral pieces to choose from and this season’s dresses don’t disappoint.

3. Go for Texture – Whether you choose a dress with ruching, pleats, or lace, I think a textured dress is always a beautiful option. I even think a silk dress would be a lovely choice. Dresses with beautiful materials make your look even more elevated for a wedding.
