If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you might have noticed that I have a thing for lace. And florals. And embroidery. Basically, I love all the feminine details. Lace dresses are always one of my go-tos because I feel like they’re so beautiful and timeless. I love how romantic lace dresses are, and how they make me feel so put-together. As someone who has loved reading 19th century English Literature, I’ve always appreciated the art of dressing up. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about casual style, too, but putting on a dress is just so transformative. I wore this dress on a date night with Matthew and I felt like such a lady. It was the perfect occasion to get dressed up since we haven’t had a date night in months!
Our date nights are few and far between these days. Back in the old days we’d make a reservation for Friday/Saturday night, have tons of time to shower and get dressed up, and then go! Now, it takes a little more planning. First, we have to secure a babysitter {aka Grandma}, then if we’ve planned it in advance we have to make a reservation, although usually it’s a last minute thing and we’re scrambling to find something on OpenTable. Then we put Augustine down, rush to get ready and out the door- on time. We were only 10 minutes late for our Saturday night reservation, so I’m taking that as a win! It was so nice to have some one-on-one time with Matthew and even though we truly enjoy our date nights at home, there’s something so special about getting dressed up and leaving the house just the two of us. To think we used to go on weekly, sometimes bi-weekly date nights! They were such a luxury and I hate so say we took them for granted, but the bright side is that we enjoy them so much now.
