Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! I don’t know about you, but the summertime can get so exhausting! Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have multiple kids running around because it’s hectic enough with just one! As I’ve gotten older, and especially after having Augustine, I’ve realized how important it is to take daily steps towards my own personal health and wellbeing. Today I thought I would share my daily wellness practices. I try to do most of these things daily, but of course there are days where some are skipped. Although, I will say, that on the days I skip one of these practices I feel totally off. It’s interesting how these wellness practices have become such an important part of my day. I’d love to hear your daily wellness practices below if you have any, or ones you might be working towards.
My Daily Wellness Practices
DRINK WATER WITH LEMON FIRST THING IN THE MORNING
I start each day with a big glass of water and lemon, sometimes with cinnamon and cayenne added. I feel like this drink is something my body craves after being asleep all night. Water with lemon is so refreshing and I always feel better when it’s the first thing I consume. On the days where I go straight to coffee, or breakfast for that matter, I feel much more sluggish. I know this is a step my body really appreciates.
SKINCARE ROUTINE
I know some of you might be thinking it’s funny that I consider my skincare routine a wellness practice, but it really is. I absolutely love skincare and taking care of my skin feels like I’m taking care of myself. It’s also incredibly relaxing to wash my face and apply my serums and lotions. And of course, masking time is totally a form of self-care. If you’re interested, here are some of the products I’m currently using. This was also a morning skincare routine I really enjoyed!
GET FRESH AIR
There’s something so therapeutic about being outdoors. I try to spend some time outside every day. Unfortunately, with our summer heat, I’ve been staying indoors a little more often than I’d like, but in the evenings when it’s cooler, Augustine and I will go on walks or play at the park. I feel like this is such a great chance for me to clear my head a bit and get more perspective. It’s really a crucial step for my mental health. When I worked full-time in an office, I started going on afternoon walks around the block and it became something I really looked forward to.
LEARN
I’m definitely one of those girls who loved school—homework and all! I miss learning in a classroom but lately I’ve been trying to learn in other ways. Sure, there are life lessons that I learn almost daily, especially with a toddler, but I also love to read, watch documentaries, and listen to podcasts. Podcasts have really been the easiest way for me to obtain information and I love listening to them while I’m doing things like making dinner, putting on my makeup, or driving. It fills the time with something productive. I go through phases where I just need quiet, or to listen to the latest country song, but I really love listening to podcasts. I listen to ones on parenting, self-help, and business the most. Some of my favorites include Oprah’s Super Soul Sundays, Respectful Parenting, The Tim Ferriss Show, Happier with Gretchen Rubin, and the Goal Digger podcast. Do you have any favorites that you listen to? I would love love love to know!
10 MINUTE TIDY
I’ve been so happy since we’ve started incorporating the 10 minute evening tidy session. Our house becomes a DISASTER by the end of the day so it’s crucial for us to take the time to tidy up. When Matthew and I are both on duty, sometimes Augustine too, things get done very quickly. I love going to bed and waking up to a clean house. It makes the mess to come a little more bearable!
PRAY
I pray whenever I think of it, or when I’m needing some extra strength, but always at night before bed. I feel like praying helps me give up a little control and put my faith in God. It’s a perfect time to reflect on my blessings, even little ones from the day, and to ask God for guidance in whatever I might be going through. In the mornings, I try to read a devotional as well. I love that I can read a short chapter/excerpt and it’s usually just what I need to hear. I’ve loved this devotional and this is the next one on my list to get. I love that it’s a year of daily devotions because it seems like that would be easy to keep up with.
One wellness practice that I would love to incorporate daily is working out. I feel like it’s been so hard for me to find the time, but to be honest, I just haven’t prioritized it like I should. I loved doing yoga in a studio so maybe I should see if I can find some videos online. It would be great to get back into a yoga practice because it’s such a good workout for mind, body, and spirit.
I hope you all enjoyed reading about my daily wellness practices! I would love to know if you have any! Thanks for reading!
