As we’re nearing the end of the year, I can’t help but think about some of the New Year’s resolutions we made at the beginning of the year. One big goal of mine and Matthew’s was to take and share more photos. It’s crazy to think about how much Augustine has grown in the past year and it’s been so important for us to document memories with him. As you can imagine, we have A TON of photos we’ve taken over the past few years. I always plan on getting them framed, or making them into an album, but life gets busy and I keep forgetting. I was so happy to find a way to keep our resolution to share our photos in a way that is much easier and more convenient! This might be the easiest New Year’s resolution to keep!
Have you all heard about the Google Home Hub? Matthew and I are huge Google product lovers- couldn’t live without my Google Cal and I refuse to use any Maps besides Google Maps. When the Google Home Hub launched the other month Matthew and I were both so intrigued. It’s a home device that allows you to get help at a glance, and then get back to what you’re doing. You can program it to show you the time, your drive time to work, the weather for the week, etc. And because it’s set up with Google Assistant you can ask it questions, like “How many cups are in a quart?” or “What are the mall’s store hours today?” It can also play videos from YouTube {cooking/yoga/makeup/music} and you can use it to control things in your house like turning your compatible lights on and off, managing your smart thermostat, and checking on the front door with Nest cam. Needless to say, it’s a very very cool and helpful device! BUT I was so excited to learn about the photo features and that’s what I wanted to share with you all.
The Google Home Hub shows photos from your Google Photos library. I’m always like “Hey Google, show me photos of Augustine,” and it will rotate through all my photos with him. The device fits in seamlessly with your décor, too, even changing brightness based off lighting, and it actually looks like it could be a picture frame.
The other night Matthew and I were getting ready for friends to come over and we were able to show an album of recent highlights from the past year. It was so nice because it felt like we had an instant conversation starter with our guests, as The Google Home Hub displayed photos from our Hawaii trip, Augustine’s cute Halloween costume, and of course our pregnancy announcement. Plus it can play our music, so we didn’t have to worry about putting together a playlist!
While I know our Google Home Hub will help in a million ways, I have to say I’m so excited to be able to use it to view our favorite family memories. Whenever life gets overwhelming I love looking at our photos to remind me what life is all about. It’s like an instant way to ground me and make me smile. It works with this Google Photos feature called live albums where you select people’s faces you want to see, and the Google Home Hub will stay up to date and show photos of that person in particular. Just note, for your Google Home Hub to have access to your photos you need a Google Photos account. It’s free and we love it. You can backup all of your photos there!
If any of you are considering the Google Home Hub {it would make such a good Christmas gift} I would highly recommend it! Plus, I just read that they’re giving 6 months of YouTube premium for free with your order. That’s such a good bonus if you love YouTube as much as we do!
Have you started thinking about New Year’s resolutions for next year yet? Anything that you want to work on? One big one for me is to spend less time on my phone and more time with my family. I have a feeling the Google Home Hub will definitely be helping me in that area though. That hands-free voice activation is a game changer!
