How to transform your skin this year! - M Loves M @marmar

Well things have really changed around here! I swear Southern California winters are never this cold, but for the past few weeks it’s been freezing. Combine the cold weather, wind, indoor heating, and holiday indulgences and my skin is ready for a soothing and moisturizing refresh. This January my motto is New Year, New Skin! Working towards glowing skin feels like a pretty fun resolution to me. I’ll also be sharing my updates on the products I tried last month, so keep reading!

JANUARY BEAUTY PICKS: NEW YEAR, NEW SKIN

Seed Phytonutrients Facial Superseeds Serum

It can be super hard to tell which beauty products are actually clean or safe to use, which is why I LOVED that this serum is advertised as 99% natural. Not all synthetic ingredients are bad for you, but it’s still comforting to know that this product contains mostly natural ingredients.

First Aid Beauty Hello Fab Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer

Using primer before applying my makeup feels like an extra step that I don’t have time for in the morning, but I always use moisturizer. This moisturizer also acts as a primer which feels like a real win for this busy mama!

Korres Wild Rose Exfoliating Cleanser

I’ve always had really good experiences with Korres products so I can’t wait to try this exfoliating scrub. It’s been so cold and windy here lately that my skin has been feeling on the dryer side. A nice exfoliation before moisturizing should do the trick!

Kiehl’s Buttermask Lip Smoothing Treatment

Kiehl’s is another one of my all-time favorite skincare brands. My lips, just like my skin, have been so dry lately! Hopefully by using this soothing lip treatment before bed, I’ll be able to keep my lips smooth and moisturized. Also how good does the coconut oil and wild mango butter sound?!

Go-To Face Hero

I’ll be trying that priming moisturizer in the morning, but at night I like something a little richer. This oil contains essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, as well as anti-inflammatory and nourishing ingredients. Apparently it leaves zero residue and penetrates skin quickly, so it should be less greasy than other facial oils.

DECEMBER BEAUTY: PREP AND PERFECT

Living Proof Overnight Perfector

This was such a great product to use in December! It made my hair crazy soft and shiny and a lot easier to manage. I loved how it smelled too! This is a nice go-to when you’re wanting to make your hair feel a little more special, especially in between cuts.

Bliss That’s Incredi-peel Pads

I swear I noticed a difference with my skin after one night of using these peel pads. My skin was so soft and smooth so I think it definitely helps with retexturizing. There’s a lot of product on the pads so you can use it on your neck and chest as well. AND I even had enough leftover for Matthew to use one night!

Lavanila Elements Deodorant

I was really happy to find this natural deodorant because it smells so good and it works- at least for me! I will say that I haven’t been doing any intense workouts these days {blame the bump}, but I didn’t notice any bad BO smells haha!

Bareminerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

I’m such a fan of BareMinerals products and this one was no exception! I LOVE how it’s lightweight and blends in easily. It gives a good amount of coverage without being too thick/thin. I feel like you could even use it in place of a moisturizer since there’s the added benefit of the SPF. While I might use something with more coverage for going out/photoshoots, I love this for everyday. It definitely feels like it’s your skin, but just a little better.

Kristin Ess Soft Wave Pivoting Wand Curling Iron

This curling iron has such great reviews and while I liked it ok, I have to say I still love my go-to curling iron more. This curling iron has a 90 degree pivot which can definitely be helpful if you need to get to the back of your head, but to be honest, I never felt like it was truly necessary for me. One thing that bugged me about this curling iron was that my hair didn’t fall off the wand like it does with my other one. Instead, it got caught on the little rubber stopper that is used to hold the wand on the counter. I’m curious if any of you have tried this curling iron and what you thought, especially since the reviews are so high on it. I do love Kristin Ess and her products though! Some of my favorites include this $10 shampoo, this leave-in conditioner, and texture spray. If I had blonde hair I would for sure be using this rose gold temporary tint too!

By the way, my favorite curling iron is expensive but I’m telling you it’s worth it, and usually you can find it on sale. The curls last 3 days when I use the 1” barrel, and you could always just get one wand instead of all three.
