Many of you have read about my love for Trunk Club before. It’s a service that I’ve really relied on over the past year and a half and now even more so, as a mom of two. Life has been so busy and hectic that I haven’t had any time to get to the mall, and when I do have free time I don’t want to spend it browsing through pages and pages online to find the right clothes that 1. Work for my postpartum needs {read: nursing friendly}, 2. Will be comfortable enough for running after a toddler, and 3. Aren’t a pain in the butt to clean when they get stained or spit up on, since that’s inevitably what happens.
I reached out to my stylist Carolyn, who I absolutely adore, and she was able to pick a selection of the cutest items {wait until you see below!}. I was really drawn to these summer shorts in this pale ivory linen. They are the PERFECT summer item because they’ll keep me cool in our inevitable SoCal heat. However, I really wanted to wear them in a polished way that doesn’t make me look like a 12 year old. I used pieces from my Trunk to style two outfits that I think totally fit the bill. Summer, I’m ready for you!
How to Stay Cool and Polished in Summer Shorts
For this first outfit I decided to wear this cute peplum blouse. This peplum blouse is a must-have for my postpartum body since I still have a little bit of a post baby belly. A peplum is flattering and gives a little feminine touch. Espadrilles are one of my favorite summer shoes that I got in a previous Trunk – and love. I’m amazed at the amount of outfits they work with – everything from shorts to jeans to skirt and dresses!
For the second outfit, I wanted to do something a little more summery! You can’t go through summer without an easy tank. This is a style you can easily dress up or down and I just love how polished it looks with these shorts. The yellow color is fun but not too crazy, and the scalloped neckline adds a unique detail. I wore these with brown sandal heels but you could easily wear them with a pair of flat sandals too. My Trunk Club stylist included a really fun pair of espadrille mules in my Trunk that would be a perfect casual option. And a straw hat is a summer staple!

I love that Carolyn included some classic summer pieces, like this striped dress and those fun lightweight pants. She also gave me a splurge option, that stunning Ulla Johnson bag. I’m so tempted to keep that one.
As a reminder, with Trunk Club, your stylist will send you a proposed trunk, based off their assessment of your style and your preferences. You agree to what you want her to send or ask to switch out some pieces. You get your Trunk in the mail, and then have 5 days to try everything on and decide what to keep. Anything you don’t want gets set back, at no charge. If you don’t want anything, no worries, the Trunk can be sent back and you just pay the $25 styling fee (waived if you have a Nordstrom card). It’s so low pressure and it’s so fun to work with someone who loves fashion as much as you do (or maybe more!).
