There’s no denying it, Audrey Hepburn did it best. We have her to thanks for the little black dress, or at least for making it the most popular dress style ever! I love a LBD, but I also don’t love being cold. Which is why for some holiday parties, I choose to go a different route. I wanted to share an alternative to the LBD that feels just as dressy, but is also warm!

top {sheer but so pretty with a basic tank underneath!} . pants {such great quality for the price!} . heels . bag {see it when I was newly pregnant with Augustine!} . headband . lipstick in Sweeter than Honey {such a good nude lipstick!} .
This outfit has been a long time coming. I’ve been in love with the Swiss dot trend for a while now, but have been a little nervous since some of them can be SO sheer! To be fair, the top I chose is super sheer. But I felt like the more covered up silhouette made it a super easy layering piece. I found a black camisole I already had to work with this top. But if was thinking for added warmth I might grab one of these Heattech camisoles from Uniqlo. This line of layering pieces apparently keeps you super warm. At least that’s what I’ve heard from my East Coast readers!
I chose to pair this top with a slightly dressier pair of black pants, but you could easily pair it with black jeans too. I’ve been loving Abercrombie & Fitch jeans lately, so I think these black jeans would be a great choice. Plus they are on sale for under $50. Total style win! If it’s really cold where you are, this fun black sweater that says “cheers” on it would be the perfect black top for the holidays!
And of course, if you’re up for going the LBD route, there are an endless amount of options out there for you. Don’t worry, I did some digging and found some really good ones. This sparkly star dress basically screams New Year’s Eve! And speaking of movie stars, doesn’t this dress look like something Marilyn Monroe would wear? And this option is so simple and flattering! Last but not least, this LBD features my favorite Swiss dots! Not a bad combo if you ask me.
